    Yeah I reckon Eds is better as mafia. Athlai is very underrated as town though. Once he starts leading he changes the game completely in favour of town, and mafia need to get their stories straight if they want to survive the ensuing onslaught.

    So Johnny Clams has asked me to read out the big awards myself as a reward for being so Shady and him being so Shady that his posts mysteriously never turn up.

    I'll start with the Host with the most.

    Best Host

    Goes to Eds! Truly a maker of the most enthralling games with proven success across a few.

    Best Writing in Game Design

    Goes to Eds! Bounty hunters? Items? Credits? VENTRO? He has basically transformed mafia into an incredibly versatile game all by himself. All us other hosts are really just trying to match the benchmark he set so high early on.

    Best Character Design (Overall)

    Goes to Eds! Well... no surprises there I guess. Jeez save some for the rest of us.

    Best Writing in a Day/Night Post

    Doesn't go to Eds! Holy crap. He was on such a streak too. No instead it goes to Heef for his hilarious day six and all round quality in Jurassic Park.

    Best Character Design (Individual Character)

    Goes to me! For Number 6 and Gaius. I'm not sure what I liked most about this, making an incredibly important character "die" n0. Or making Skippos and Baxter have the most involved joint performance ever devised creating a hilarious "Odd Couple" QT.

    And finally the games...

    Star Wars II

    Most Enjoyable to Watch

    Star Wars II and Star Wars I tied.

    for me at least I don't think it would have changed. I was awful as gandalf but at least for some time there will be 1-2 people who rate me very highly as town and I think i've got another fuck up left before they begin not to, as I think these people have 'overrated' my performance in some games. I think if I'd played alright-well as gandalf I'd still have gotten those 1-2 votes for me but I doubt my gandalf performance turned anyone off as people either rate me really highly or think I'm awful. No doubt if we had a worst town player category I'd have polled 2-3 votes too. It's strange.

    I don't think it was all the novel things that made Star Wars 2 good. The game was balanced, the characterisation appeared to be solid across the board, the game was played in the right spirit etc. The innovative aspects were just the cream on top, really. It would have still been an excellent game without them.

    I've been maf three times, third party once and town the rest (which I make as 5?) IIRC. Not including Howe's mashup.

    But two games I was town I was killed N0. I think what hurts me as much as anything is 2 of the 3 games I've had a leading town role we've lost in GoT and SW1. And Lotr2 the other we tried as hard as poss to fuck it up

    Really? Can only think of Jabba which I did well as non-town. I think I'm actually not that good as mafia

    :laugh: The ring coming straight off the back of my Jabba performance too iirc. Polar opposites
