Smith is a bit overrated on this forum. The best hooker and in the top 5 players but he's no god. He's great if you have a team with say Benji @ 6 and Thurston @ 7 where he can be the organizer, but if you have Prince/Kimmorley @ 7, you're better off with Farah or Ennis.
Best kicking game of all the hookers, gives good service and kicks goals. If I could pick anyone to build a team around, it'd be him.
99% of hookers give good service, it's pretty much a requirement of a hooker. What you said anyway pretty much confirmed my thesis.
Prince can play the role of an organizer and creater, so it depends which way you want him to play I guess. He's more noted for his organizing at this stage though...
What do you mean by that? AFAIC you're going to build a side around him before Thurston, Hayne, Lockyer or anyone else because he organises the side.
Same with Farah. That doesn't mean anything. Same with players like Prince and so on. Look at 07 or 08 when Marshall was out for the most of it. There's a good chance the Tigers could've been spooners if not for Farah. Instead Farah single handedly made them a top 8 contender.
Yes. That's what I'm saying. Smith is an organzing halfback with a very good defensive workrate. Under the cloud of organzing comes a good kicking game and service as well. I would definitely build a team around him or Prince first.
His running game isn't half-bad either, it's not as direct as other hookers, but he doesn't usually have as much support up the middle either.
By support up the middle, do you mean forwards or players running off him? Either way, it's pretty ridiculous since he has one of the best support play fullbacks in the league in Slater and one of the best packs as well.
