Surprised he didn't list Coote as a 5/8th option.

Nah, I really disagree. We've spent large periods of time just camped in our own end in both Game II and Game III because we didn't have the go-forward or the kicking game to gtfo out of there. It's not a coincidence that happened; it's just what happens when you play with one prop on the field, have wide-running second rowers taking tight hit-ups and and go wide from your own end every second play regardless of momentum.

If the logic is "Gallen is going to play 80 in the front row so we only need three props" then I can see that, however this doesn't work at all when you only give the other two props 30 minutes between them. Particularly when all the back rowers we picked are better fringe runners than centre-field players - we haven't even picked a genuine modern-day lock to help out.

I don't really care how many props we pick on the bench as long as we have two out there at all times.

I knew I would forget someone. Mannah and Lahrs to take Grant and King's places on that list to keep it small.

    Not aimed at AVA

Knew I would get the bias shots thrown at me. The fullbacks is basically listed in preference. You can't honestly name another fullback better than Coote for NSW after those guys are gone. Minichiello is shit and I rate Coote the better option over Gardner.

You didn't need to name five fullbacks though. You only named three wingers even though one of them is also in your fullback list and you play double the wingers you do in each game compared to fullbacks. I'm a big fan but Coote needn't be on the list; he has no hope.

Hughesy isn't one of those guys who only watches his team play is he?

  6. AVA T Delonge

Yeah, i'd probably agree that Coote is at about that position on the list, but you could have ended it earlier Hughesy. :p

  7. SM MD Dorn

Nah. He watches whoever they play against too

  8. Stormer BH Borisc

    Where's Brett White?

  9. Cribbage RG Cribb

On Canberra's bench where he belongs. Shit cunt. Don't make me cockblock.

As if Hughesy even wrote that post.

Mannah has done fuck all for NSW, and that's the thing he has going for him - he hasn't had enough time to fail. I know it's probably not his fault that he isn't getting much time, though I wouldn't be surprised that he doesn't have the stamina to play for much longer than he has so far.

    1. Hayne
    2. Uate
    3. Gasnier
    4. Jennings
    5. Gordon
    6. Soward
    7.
    8. Gallen
    9. Buderus
    10. Mannah/Tolman
    11. Lewis
    12. Creagh
    13. Bird

    14. Kidley
    15. Watmough
    16. Tolman/Mannah
    17. TLL

    Would be fairly ideal.

  13. Old Mate M Perry

Lol at chucking Coote and Grant on the bottom of each list to appear not biased. Forgot Wallace on that list.

  14. Alec AD Funkotron

No halfback > Pearce at halfback? Maybe, though I probably wouldn't go quite that far.

  15. SM MD Dorn

Nah Wallace doesn't play for Penrith anymore, no need to list him

  16. Speirz DG Speirs

This. I'm really holding out hope that he comes back and he and Gidley can share the role for Newcastle and NSW.

As much as it pains me to say it every time, I really think that Brett Stewart should be able to force his way into the side. He's better at club level than all the other options at fullback bar Hayne IMO.

EDIT: I'm also interested to see what Tahu can do under Bennett.

I'd rather play a man down.

  18. Kegdrinker LA Pilgrim

    8. Gallen
    10. Uate

You see his passes yesterday? Should be playing halfback. :p

I believe my team before the series was:

I said I'd sit Lyon down and talk to him about playing, and move Lewis to centre if he really didn't think he could serve the team. I hadn't decided on a replacement second rower in that eventuality, but I was considering someone like Tupou just for impact.

My team hasn't changed that much at all, really. Lyon's been flicked now, so Lewis to centre it is. I was impressed with Scott's work in the second row so he can start. Uate in for Morris.

Snowden was dropped, slightly unfairly given the limited chances he got but he was terrible tbf and he was also poor in the Test. I still like the idea of Mannah and TLL on the bench so I'd probably just bring Douglas in as a straight swap for Snowden in that team.

Halves are still pretty confusing. Campese's injured again, I don't know what to make of Carney at all now, Mullen needed to have a big year and really hasn't, and Soward actually out-performed Pearce just to make it more difficult.

Of the other players I didn't name who Stuart picked - Glenn Stewart and Jennings had solid games. Creagh gets a lot of wraps but I still think he's been pretty poor; he's done nothing to prove my perception of him wrong. Dugan went okay but I still think Hayne or Stewart would offer a lot more, and Minichiello was terrible. Merrin and Galloway barely got in the field, but did nothing to suggest I was wrong to leave them out. Ennis was crap as expected. Oh and Young got a game - lol.
