  1. Speirz DG Speirs

    GK: Schwarzer
    LB: Chipperfield
    CB: Neill
    CB: Spiranovic (Coyne likely though)
    RB: Wilkshire
    CDM: Grella
    CDM: Valeri
    LAM: Kewell
    CAM: Cahill
    RAM: Bresciano
    ST: McDonald

Guessing we'll stick with the usual 4-5-1. One of those 3 AM's will be missing or on the bench though, as per usual.

  2. Hybrid A Kolar

    Coyne > Spiranovic.

  3. Speirz DG Speirs

I agree with that. But come the 2010 WC, Spiranovic > Coyne. Seeing as we're practically qualified, now is the time to bring in the younger players like Spiranovic, Djite and Vidosic.

Coyne's already shown us what he's got, and it's highly unlikely that his game will change much in the next year.

  4. Hybrid A Kolar

Actually, was going to ask you this earlier. I haven't seen much of Dario Vidosic. What do you know about him? Have you seen him play?

  5. Julian BJ Taylor

    Agree 100%

Securing Williams (only going on what I've read) is a good thing as well.

  6. Speirz DG Speirs

I've seen the odd glimpse. Probably not enough to make a real judgement. Looks promising though, but not as much as Djite. Reminds me a bit of Nathan Burns actually.

  7. Julian BJ Taylor

We need to prime Djite IMO.

  8. Speirz DG Speirs

Djite, McDonald and Kennedy should be our main three AFAIC.

If we want to go with one up front, Viduka is the best option though.

  9. Julian BJ Taylor

    Agreed with all of that.

And we don't need to take any other shit ****s like Holman, Thompson etc etc becaue if we are stuck we have enough wide midfielders to allow Kewell to play up front (still our best striker tbf).

Agreed in 4-5-1 viduka plays a holding position much better, he has more skill with the ball at his feet and is a better distibuter, wont score as many goals, but will give brec, and kewell a bit more opportunity from around the edge of the eighteen yeard box, but djite and macdonald bring more pace so it really depends on what style we want to play, imo if we do our old spread wide and look for the head i think macdonald and kennedy are the best options

  11. Hybrid A Kolar

When Viduka retires though, Kennedy should be the number one option if Verbeek wants to play one up front.

  12. Speirz DG Speirs

Depends on where his career goes from here really. He could end up languishing in the lower leagues.

  13. stupersteve03 SJ Cambridge

macdonald is more likely to keep his spot IMO he is a genuine goal scorer which neither kennedy or viduka (at least not anymore) are, Kennedy is a super sub, i like him coming on late in the game when we need to score goals, as part of a two man up front

  14. rolande RE Hallett

    Socceroo team is a joke.

  15. rolande RE Hallett

Madaschi hasn't played top level in years. Sterjovski IMO isn't cut out for top class football. Where's Craig Moore? Should be there instead of North and finally Troisi should be in the team, not Carle.

EDIT: My team based on that 11 is

    .....................................Schwarzer
    ...............Wilkshire........North.....Spiranovic....Chipperfield
    ...............................Culina.........Grella
    ...................Kewell.............Cahill.............Bresciano
    .....................................Mcdonald

Moore is injured. Madaschi is there probably just so Pim can get a proper look at him.

The call for Carle has been coming for aaaaaaaaaaages. Looks like Pim's finally given in.

Carle is rubbish lol. And even if Moore is injured plenty of BETTER centrebacks than someone playing in Serie C. And Troisi from what I hear is ripping up in Turkey.

  18. Speirz DG Speirs

That's what everyone said when they picked Chris Coyne out of the Championship.

The way I see it there's a core 18 there that he'll use for the match itself, and the rest of the players are just there so that Pim can have a look at them.

  19. Speirz DG Speirs

    Leaving out the captain then?

I'll give the thumbs up to any lineup that doesn't have Bresciano playing... Shittest ****, I have no idea why he is rated at all by anyone.
