for starters it was 3-1. Jeffers scored and a young Rooney made his debut and it was only a friendly u make me laugh how you keep going on about it like you won a competitive game against us. we will see who gets further in this next years world cup. we only choke when we go to penalties and 2bf we are awful at them

I hoped it was. I started making a list just in case:)

as i say the english team is clearly a better team then ours, i mean association football is our fourth biggest football code, and maybe the fifth biggest sport, and when you are a small country like australia that is actually fairly meaningful, it cuts alot of players out, so the fact that we are where we are is a big plus, we are the best team in asia now, and whilst being in asia might be easier, being the best in the whole federation is pretty good, im well proud of how we do at football even if it isnt up to english scratch

it doesn't sound right, Australia being the best team in asia i'll have to get used to it. I'll give credit to all you Aussies, you play your sport hard but fair (well most of the time) and sometimes i wish we had that kind of win ethic but we don't. to be the best at cricket for over a decade was impressive and no matter what spot you enter in you normaly do well. even getting to the last 16 (i believe) in the last world cup was impressive seeing like you've already stated it's your 4th most played sport and probs unlike most english fans i like to see you do well in football (soccer) unless you play against us. i don't like to see you do well in cricket ITBT:)

Yeah most people hate us in cicket for being the best tbh.

I wouldn't say i hate the Aussies in cricket i just like to see them get beaten whenever i see them play. 2bf i've always respected the likes of S.Waugh, McGrath, Warne for what they've achieved in the sport

    Same.

I have always respected the best English batsmen to choke on the biggest stage.

    Ramprakash, Crawley, Hick etc etc.

:) very nicely done. Don't forget Harmy in 06/07

  9. Julian BJ Taylor

Nah Harmy wasn't such a star in FC.

    FMD.

\_/ @ this argument. Mouse to STFU and piss off from this thread and Julian to stop taking the bait IMO.

If you only concentrate on European teams then why try and even comment on Australia's situation?

\_/ @ your rant. Hybrid to stfu and enjoy that people are actually responding to his endless football threads.

Sif I'm the one taking the bait.

The other ****s were arguing against my "Culina, Moore and Kennedy would make the England team" comment.

  14. MatthewJay TA Miokovic

Should beat Qatar and Bahrain. Japan is a test of where we are with our team.

I'd deadset change the thread title.

No, we moved in order to have more games against quality opposition. England used to play more games in a year than we'd play in four. It also makes political sense, because we were never going to be considered for the World Cup if we were in Oceania.

As far as I'm concerned, it's actually harder for us now to make the World Cup, because we have to be consistent. It's not all about two games anymore.

Okay, so you admit to only concentrating on the European sides. but then assume that you could beat all the South American teams who you know nothing about?

We beat the Netherlands in the Netherlands not too long ago.

  17. Speirz DG Speirs

Only one more point needed and we'll be the first side to qualify other than South Africa.

It could well be by a matter of hours though, as the Dutch only need a point as well.

  18. Mousey AJ Son

Wow. I hope people don't start confusing me with this dire mouse.

    Socceroos to qualify. :p

  19. Hybrid A Kolar

Good. I went out of my way specifically NOT to put that dire name in the title.

    Yeah, AWTA.

Kennedy, IMO, definitely wouldn't; while Moore, IMO, definitely would (at least the squad ... maybe the bench). Culina is up for argument though.

    LOL. Point taken. :p

What would people have as their first XI from that squad?

    Some interesting selections there, TSTL.
