That was a real scrap to get to 9.

And I wouldn't even pay Grevsmuhl. I've got my opinions on Thaiday too but that's already been done to the death.

At the end of the day point is Gillett is only still in contention due to any other real options.

I'd take roughly the count you made if we were talking about blokes who are genuinely pickable at Origin level. Being FG standard is a big step down from that though. But yeah there's only about 4 or 5 I'd genuinely feel comfortable picking and a couple of them I'd only consider as bench players.

I don't think Gillett is in contention because of a dearth of options either. I mean I think he would've been picked for NSW too. He gets picked for two reasons, IMO. The first is self-evident; he plays for Brisbane. If he played for Parramatta he wouldn't have played half as many games. And the second is because he's seen as an x-factor/game-breaker type player, which to a certain extent is true.

By the by, NSW certainly have a lot more FG standard players to pick from but genuinely pickable Origin players; their stocks aren't all that much better. NSW have played their last 6 games with Hoffman and Scott on the edges for example. Hoffman belongs in Origin but Scott obviously doesn't. Lewis, I don't think is anything more than a bench option nowadays. Creagh plays middle-third and doesn't even start any more. If, unlike Thaiday, he was being regularly picked in Origin on the edge that'd be different but he hasn't played for years and probably never will again. Regardless of how good I think he is, and I do rate him, he's not really an option atm either. Williams is a piece of shit. Jackson is rubbish.

I think you've got Bird, Cordner, Graham, Hoffman, Frizell and Sims. Probably Thompson too. I haven't seen enough of Sironen but from what I have seen I haven't been blown away. How do you rate NSW's stocks in terms of players you think are realistically pickable Origin players?

Just gotta wait for Oates to develop.

They've gotta pick Austin this year. I give him a better chance of playing well in Origin than any half NSW have tried since Jarrod Mullen.

Austin/Sezer is a real chance, IMO.

    Sezer > Reynolds anyway.

Yeh every day of the week. I do have a few questions over the Sezer/Austin combo as to what effect it'll have on Sezer's game but we'll see that before Game 1 @ Canberra. If Austin is to be picked it must be with a strong ball playing half which rules Adam Reynolds out

    Agreed.

Just on Austin/Sezer working at club level though I think Wighton needs to assert himself a tad more. Because he's not a natural supporting fullback in attack like Austin actually is. The reduction of interchange and likelihood of Hodgson playing 80 should help them too.

Apparently Kevin Walters has said none of the emerging players who broke curfew at the Emerging camp will be eligible for selection in 2016.

That's Cameron Munster, Dylan Napa, Anthony Milford, Korbin Sims & Valentine Holmes.

No real loss there for QLD all those guys have options who should be picked ahead of them

  12. Magic AJ Parker

Even if that were true we see 3rd, 4th & 5th stringers used every year in origin.

It's an even bigger blow for QLD who have a significantly smaller player pool to pick from.

If true it's definitely a bit of a kick in the teeth.

Incidental really. The only bloke who should be seriously considered is Napa and we can do without him. Milford being ineligible is a god send, though, mind you Walters would probably throw this rule out the window if it became dire.

I read something that only mentioned munster and Holmes.

Munster & Holmes are under investigation for something that happened on the night, but all of them broke curfew and are getting stood down from selection for 2016.

I'm just going off what someone told me though, I'm not sure if it's in the press yet.

Yeah, only name released in the media article I saw was Holmes being under investigation, but they said that all 6 had been stood down from the QLD team for the year.

I could see it definitely biting Qld in the ass.

    I doubt it.

Bent Hunt & Chris Grevsmuhl have been added to the banned list.

Why was Jarrod Wallace in a Qld emerging squad. Was sure he was a Blue.
