This. It's absolutely fucked. Should be called play on. Jake Friend fucked up Roosters momentum on tackle 0 doing this. Broncos didn't have a set line and he throws it into Thaiday on the ground for a penalty. Gave Brisbane a chance to set their line.

It's getting beyond ridiculous now with the calls Brisbane get.

Also, what are the policy reasons for contract details not being disclosed & the salary cap being made public? Contrast it to the NBA & NFL, the two most prominent salary cap leagues in the world which have contracts essentially openly reported and salary cap information maintained by their respective players associations.

The only two things I can imagine are:

    1. That the players would lose out because public scrutiny would reduce the accessibility to external sponsorship payments which are supposedly at an arm's length, but in reality aren't.

    2. It would give rise to more contract disputes for underpaid players who'll hold out for better contracts/transfers to other teams. Imagine being Shannon Boyd and you've signed for $350k a year thinking you've got a great deal, make the origin team after a year, then find out Ryan James is on 700k a year.

With that said the 2nd point could also be beneficial as the market would correct itself at least and players would be paid accordingly. It would be more efficient, or at least the free agency market. Carrying on from that, I'd like to see something like the NFL/NBA model of post-season free agency. A player signing with another team in advance is ridiculous. Any negotiations prior to the end of the season (or beginning of finals perhaps) should be tampering. Pre-June 30 swaps are fine though.

I can see why they have the rule but Milford throwing it directly behind him made a complete mockery of it. The refs needs to have some freedom to make common sense decisions.

Like what? I don't remember any real absolute shockers that Brisbane have been given. There were shit calls either way last night, and the biggest issue is the Napa call?
Should have been called play on. The Will Smith one should have been ruled a knock on/forward pass.

I didn't say I didn't think it wasn't a penalty. And ball went backwards anyway.

The Napa binning was one of the most bizarre calls I've ever seen.

What’s the pen for? And yeah that is a knock on.

Napa cleared by mrc. Surprise surprise...

They’re just salty and want to focus on late match calls as the reason for their teams losing. Where was the penalty for a blatant JWH flop which incidentally kneed Roberts in the scrotum? Touchie called knock on for the Manu no try yet Sutton overruled and sent it up a try and Easts got the ball when they shouldn’t have. Ferguson’s first of three knock ons was called play on. Broncos couldn’t buy a ruck penalty yet Easts got two in 40 seconds just totally out of the blue and it completely changed the momentum of the game.

But yeah just the Napa sin binning...lol

Two Titans in the bin for a nothing brush past by Wallace.

Saw the two passing the ball into the player penalties.

The Boyd one is 100% a penalty. He's obstructing the ruck and Friend isn't provided an opportunity to provide good service. Friend shouldn't have to avoid Boyd and be disadvantaged because a Brisbane player has failed to clear.

The Milford/Napa one is a joke. It should've been play on. Napa cleared the ruck and was in an innocuous position.

fmd, they never call shepherds. The commentators don't even know what they are.

    Jai Arrow is so good.

The Cows are beyond horrible. Green did right to bring some youth in but rest are still shite. Wtf was he thinking dropping Lowe? Its Winterstein and ONeill who should be.

  16. Lukic L Popovic

That was not convincing from Winterstein jeez. I swear just about every other winger would've scored without needing to go to the box.

  17. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Friend basically had to pass it forward to hit Boyd. Wasn't stopping anything.

I reckon he knows once he drops either of them their careers are done.

Yep. Winterstein since injuries has just not been cutting it anymore. ONeill was always trash.
