State of origin 2022

I agree with you on the last part, I didn't mind seeing him selected again, particularly with Yeo at lock. What he does he does quite well, but its really not much. I still think the way he seemed to be having to cover dummy half at the start of sets took away from his ability to have something set up with the backs. I get the feeling he needs to just be able to camp out on his side and set up whatever he's setting up.

I can't stand Walker but I think in the origin arena, where you're often only getting 2-3 half chances to make the right decision on who to hit when an outside defender is up fractionally too far, or when to stab a grubber in early etc he's more likely to come up with the play than Luai. Luai's just not going to get the amount of chances he gets in a Penrith jersey.

Writing all this out generally means I'm wrong and he'll be primed to be man of the match next game.

Yeah I agree with this. Walker especially is definitely a better player than Luai IMO but between being in basically career-worst form this year and not doing well in Origin previously it's impossible to justify. Keary has been well below his best all year too, I fear his injuries have got the better of him.

When everyone is fit, Wighton to 6 and Latrell to centre. Problem solvered.

I think Moses is the best possible partner for Cleary. Doubt we’ll ever see it but I think it’d work really well.

We’d have two of the best boots in the game in the halves and Moses has a criminally under-rated ability to run the football.

    Dropping RCG was unexpected.

Jesus can't believe they dropped him. I heard Trbjovic was in but just assumed they axed Maddinson. Thought RCG was excellent game 1.

I like Cook off the bench and Koroisau starting, Talakai on there as well as Cook seems a bit Henjak.

Talakai on the bench is a waste. Crichton's form has been pretty bog this year. Dont think Martin should be there either.

I'd play RCG over Haas in an Origin match TBH.

Compared to 6-8 weeks ago, Talakai isn't even going that well at the moment. I think Freddy is showing his clueless side here, 5 changes when only facing 1 forced and maybe 2 other personnel switches to a team that lost by 6 and missed tying the game by a few seconds.

  9. Wilson SB Wilson

    lol.

In the seven games since the Manly explosion game he’s averaging 167 metres per game, 74 post contact metres per game and 4 tackle breaks. Hate to see him when he’s going well.

Problem is we were 6pts off at home, it only gets harder from here. Neutral territory next game and then at Suncorp if we can push it to a decider.

3 changes were necessary IMO. I like the additions of Crichton, Trbojevic and Korisau. All 3 improve the side. Burton for Wighton was a forced change, very meh on all the available options outside of Mitchell and Turbo, think they are all a very similar level at this points in their career.

Talakai for RCG is the only real shocker but it's not like Talakai is a terrible player. I thought he was really good for Cronulla last year in the middle and offers something no other NSW forward does. If you're looking for a 20-30min burst I can see a game in which he can be valuable for NSW, it is a change of tact for Fittler though who has typically preferred a more mobile bench in the past.

Crichton is just a bog 2nd rower, very good middle though. His game 3 last year was excellent playing prop.

Talakai isn't the worst pick. He covers centres, edge and middle all to a high standard. If you wanted to pick a centre on the bench in game 1, it should have been him.

Biggest issue Talakai may have is defensive load and repeat efforts if he is forced into the middle, or even 2 players in from his usual position. He is used to making less than 9 tackles on average this year.

    Qld will shit it in.

NSW Panthers ftl. Maybe Edwards should come in with Tedesco to centre. Taylan May in for Tupou.

Dont see us winning tonight, altho I said that last game. Cotter's a big out. Not that keen on Collins starting as hes so valuable off the bench.

Hopefully Harry Smith and Munster are the difference again.

Who would you have started? Arrow?

I don't mind the idea of Carrigan off the bench after 20 knowing he will pump out the last 60. Only uses 1 interchange.

    Pongaball. Two try assists already.

Lol at these rucks tho. Absolute prank refereeing.
