New Sim (v2)

    So once all tis is completed is there gonna be a button you push that sims the whole game?

    Sounds too simple I think.

    Yep. Considering bringing weather conditions into it too, as at the moment, the number of plays & phases in the game is decided at random. Could probably have weather alter the probability of certain plays and the number of phases likely in a game, but yeah, press F9 and it'll sim a game, basically at the drop of a hat.

    Weather conditions would be seriously awesome. Maybe certain clubs play in certain good/shit weather areas to suit their rugby? Deep shit now. :p

    Main problem as far as making it easy for regular simmage will be the lack of automated commentary, I think.

    It never held back BarStar. In fact, this should be easier as lack of variety won't matter in the slightest.

    Ooh. Error in there. Gain should = 0 if result = Collapsed Scrum. I'll fix that whilst I remember.

    Open play now working. Evaluates whether the initial pass to start open play succeeds or not, and then whether a tackler can get to the opponent and tackle.

    If tackle, then ---> Ruck. If the tackler can't get to the player ---> Another phase of open play.

    Putting in the Restart as the first play now. So, if the kick doesn't go 10 metres, then scrum with feed to the oppo?

    Restart working well.

    All I need to sort out now are:

    1) Kicks in Play [easy]
    2) Grubbers [easy]
    3) Maul [medium]
    4) Ruck [hard]
    5) Line Breaks [easy]

    And we're done here.

    I have to admit, I'm a little bit stuck with the ruck at the moment.

    Open play is working nicely though. I know which individual is the ball carrier, whether they offload successfully, who the nearest opposition player is, whether the opponent can tackle successfully and from a successful tackle whether the ball goes loose or a ruck is formed. Unsuccessful tackle leads to another period of Open Play.

    Just altered the restart so it now chooses who the restart kick has been aimed at and whether their kick catching skill is up to the task of holding on to it. Added complexity, but well worth it.

    First proper try scored in testing:

    Restart: Sharks kick deep, Hurricanes' #8 (Gemmell) takes the ball successfully. Sharks gain 20 metres.

    Open Play: Gemmell successfully passes to Weaver. Masters attempts a tackle, but misses. Hurricanes gain 2 metres.

    Open Play: Weaver offloads successfully to Denton. Denton is smashed by Siege Morgan. Turnover to the Sharks.

    Open Play: Jordan Logan has the ball for the Sharks. He offloads to Hutchinson before League Lover has an attempt to tackle. Hutchinson palms off Taylor and passes successfully to Sam Graham. (Sharks gain 12 metres. Sharks + 30m)

    Open Play: Sam Graham with the ball. He easily skips past the tackle of CJ Smith. He's going full pelt now. He races pas League Lover. Just the full back, Son, to beat now and Graham barges through him. TRY TO THE SHARKS.

    I wrote the words, but the Sim determined the players and what the result of each phase of play was.

    e.g. for this line:

    Restart: Sharks kick deep, Hurricanes' #8 (Gemmell) takes the ball successfully. Sharks gain 20 metres.

    The sim told me:

    1. Sharks had the restart
    2. The kick was 20m deep
    3. Hurricanes #8 (Gemmell) was first to the ball
    4. Gemmell caught the ball successfully
    5. This move resulted in a phase of open play.
