"Lad"? First time I've been called that for 15+ years.

DWTA off kicks if you run it with wingers Fullbacks often have to bridge same with Centres and likewise if the fullback attacks the edge off a kick wingers have to bridge.

Also when the ball shifts in general play wide Centres will bridge if the winger hits it up and vice verse with the first foward bridging aswell second foward there will look for Pick and Go if not on will bridge.

notsure on percentages but pretty sure that backs would get involved alot more. Alot of the time they will go to the break down initially and then once it is secure move out. Smith and Nonu always do this.

Fortunately, I'm having real trouble with rucks and haven't actually built much of it yet, so there's plenty of time to change it.

Anyway, taking the Easter break into account and then being bloody busy with strategic planning for about 10 days, I'd be very surprised if I don't have something working before the end of May.

    I wouldn't give a date tbh.

I doubt it. We CricSimmers are a fickle bunch.

Nah never fickle when it comes to the heef. He is above regular Cricsim politics.

Starts drooling on this thread. Good signs for sure nice sim can't wait to smash a few players myself.

I'd say they have a small importance regarding the push of the scrum, then quite an important part linking the backs and fowards, whether it be through controlling the ball at the base for the scrummie or whether it be picking and going/picking and passing. Also have a role to play in the lineout IMO.

    Really impressive stuff.

Flankers to be the oil for the engine :ninja:

Fact of life tbh. If you've got two duff flankers the game is a bloody cite harder!

Phew. Kick in play now working. Turned out to be a lot more complicated than I thought as there's multiple types of general kicks in play. In the end, went for a main differentiator between "Kick to Touch" and "Kick Upfield". Results can be - kick out on the full, touch achieved --> Line out, kick for touch failed --> Ball stays in --> Open play.

Probably creating an issue now about when is the best time to deploy a kick in play. I may make it so that if you win the ball in your own half less than 10m from the line then --> Kick in Play. At the moment, there's an equal chance anywhere on the field, which is wholly unrealistic. I'll see how things pan out.

Just leaves Grubber, Ruck and Maul left to do.

Will it also depend on the player? For example a First five or Fullback are more likely to kick than a winger?

  19. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Yep. Certainly. It's relative to your ability as well, so a useless full back will be less confident in kicking, but would generally still be more likely to kick than a winger.

Basically, notwithstanding skill variation, the first five/fullback will be the kicker 40% of the time, half back & wingers approx 5% each and the remainder shared in the centres. Forwards are as near as damn it to zero with their likelihood of kicking.

Surely grubbers are incredibly unlikely to occur in a game. What would the likelihood be? 0.5% of the time a back gets the ball with 30% chance of them getting the ball back?
