    Ta.

The numbers thing is amusing to contrast with the round-ball code where you used to have a de facto standard but barely see guys wearing numbers below 10 these days.

    But never a halfback

It's weird, but we do collectively refer to #9 & #10 as "the halfbacks" up here. However if someone calls a player the halfback they invariably mean the scrum-half.

I guess it's similar to you chaps with the centres. 12 & 13 are unproblematically called "the centres", but if you refer to a player as the centre you usually mean #13, as you call #12 2nd 5/8th.

I played some teams who used letters and not numbers down here through age group level. Never knew why they did it

The Robinson break at 5:30 is fucken sensational

  14. Fiery GR Smith

Colin Slade has been offered a $720,000 French club deal. He would have to be tempted by that surely.

  15. Droos JP Rhodes

Think so? I reckon he'll be dumb. He is getting preference over Carter at 10 for the Saders atm and he is really starting to shape, with Carter helping him obviously. And with Carter most probably leaving after the WC he ought to be in the AB mix more permanently, so if he has any desire to continue playing for the AB's, 2016 onwards will be his chance.

  16. Fiery GR Smith

Yeah. Steve Hansen has basically been grovelling to him on his knees to stay. Sounds like Gordon Tietjens might want him in his NZ Sevens squad for the Rio Olympics too so he would be throwing away an Olympic gold medal opportunity too. That's serious money though for a player like him.

  17. Droos JP Rhodes

But thinking about his AB career, he is currently 3rd in line behind Cruden and Barrett, so he is also not a definite though. Money in rugby is a problem these days, especially from France buying Southern Hemisphere players. Look at the exodus of Saffers and that is all for money.

  18. Droos JP Rhodes

Confirmed that he signed. Moving after the WC.

  19. Fiery GR Smith

Fair enough. He would be mad to turn that down imo.

  20. Rego RS Hutchinson

Yeah, these players need all the money they can get, can only play rugby so long and for fringe ABs it's too hard to pass up.
