Need to strengthen their midfield massively.

    Especially if Elano leaves.

they need someone who doesn't think they own the club as in 'ronaldo' just someone who can come in and do the job. they seriously need someone alongside ireland.

Hughes never starts elano though does he :S, bit weird as he starts for the brazil first X1

  3. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

Ye but he's good in terms of squad depth which is key to success.

  4. Harvez HJ Hebditch

yeah good call, especially if ireland or robinho get injured!

  5. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

They need to strengthen their midfield and buy in a CB and a LW, Babel would be gun for them

Also a stable centre midfielder like pirlo. agree with babel he would be gun behind robinho!

  7. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

    Ye I said that ^^^

    Pirlo won't go to Citeh

  8. Harvez HJ Hebditch

yeah i said i agreed what you said about a type of player like babel joing city, i know pirlo wont go to city but they need a player like him to just hold the midfleid a bit because they have so many attacking options in robinho, ireland etc. just need someone to hang around the middle of the park and control the game a bit like iniesta.

  9. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

Lol I meant I said they need a midfieldfer :)

But ye someone like him would be perfect... Barry -> Man City :ninja:

    TORRES AGREES NEW IMPROVED DEAL

[IMG] Fernando Torres has agreed a new, improved contract with Liverpool, reflecting his standing as one of the world's top strikers. The 25-year old, who hit his 50th goal for the Reds in last Sunday's win against Spurs, was already tied to Anfield for the next four seasons after signing a six-year deal in 2007.

The new contract includes an option for a further year's extension to 2014.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez said: "Fernando is one of the best strikers in the game today and, at his age, can only get better.

"Every major side would want him in their team, but he has shown how much he wants to achieve success at Liverpool by committing his future to the club. He's a special talent, but still has the hunger to improve his game."

Torres joins Dirk Kuyt, Daniel Agger, Steven Gerrard and Benitez in agreeing new deals at Anfield over the past two months.

Benitez added: "We've made huge progress this season and now we need to take the next step. We are building something special here and securing such important players on long-term deals means we can move forward with confidence.

"This sends out a very positive message to everyone connected with the club."

Saw that announced live... Skysports news FTW. haha.

Was always going to happen tbh. That man loves Liverpool.

Excellent news. Best CF in the world imo. The lad has everything and he's going to improve which is scary to think about it if your a CB for another EPL club

  13. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

Ye I agree... He's scored 17 goals in a season which he's largely missed, and his finnishing and pace is just sheer class.

Gutted Fergie didn't go for him when he had the chance... in the end 24 mil was too much. Massive mistake.

I've heard that SAF had plenty of chances to sign him but didn't want to risk that much money on someone who didn't score 20 goals for A.Madrid in a season. I'm so glad Rafa knows the Spanish market so well and took the gamble

  15. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

Ye he was going to pay 15 mill then after the world cup Athletico picked up his price to 24 and Fergie said no

  16. Riddy JH Ridd

    bet he regrets that now!

I'm just glad we signed him

season be4 we brought Torres our strike force was Kuyt, Bellamy and Crouch. Kuyt played mostly on the right and Crouch and Bellamy are decent players just not good enough for Liverpool.
Back in 2005 we had Cisse, Baros, Sinama Pongolle and sometimes Luis Garcia. All were average except Luis who was very good playing just behind the CF.
The best strike force we've had in years was in 2001. Owen, Heskey and Fowler and that was awesome because Heskey was decent them days.
Now we have the best parntership in Torres and Gerrard but we need a very good back-up just incase Torres gets injured. N'Gog is not good enough yet. I wouldn't mind if we played Babel has a bacup CF because he has the ability to be a class player.

  18. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

Ye thats what I keep saying.

Liverpool don't need another 20-30 million striker.

They need a decent 10 million to sit on the bench and cover for Torres/Gerrard who are very injury prone.

  19. mouse MJ Edwards

totally agree. That's why i don't want Tevez that much. It means we will have to change formation and drop 1 of Masch or Xabi so Gerrard can play in CM. The Torres/Gerrard partnership is 1 of the best in the league if not the best (ok i might be bias towards my club) so why would we want to change all this. The problem is who is willing to come to us and know that he is only going to be back up but still good enough to score goals when Torres is injured. That's the question all Livepool fans want to know and Rafa to find that type of player. Honestly i couldn't tell you who i want to sign as a back-up player because they're not many great back-up CF. 1 player who i wouldn't mind is Bent. He's back up for Spurs and he is their top scorer. just an idea and wouldn't cost more than 8/10 million

  20. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

Jermaine Defoe would be perfect for you tbh, or Andy Johnson, someone like that.

I would agree with you that the Torres Gerrard combination is the best in the EPL.
