Sorry, look at a the goals he's scoring and creating for Spurs, I take it all back.

Sorry I didn't know scoring was the only judgment for a winger

    I take it all back

But it's a potential thing. He isn't that much different from Ronaldo when he arrived at United. The raw pace and dribbling skills are really impressive, even if he's not doing much with them at this stage.

He's also been much better for England, probably because of the step down to international level.

I'm a big fan of Townsend's. He's quick, he's direct and he's good off both feet. Alot of potential there. It's just a shame he got shat on so early in his career, at 22 he's alot older than people might think

    i hate hodgson

Welbeck has such a good first touch. But he always runs himself out of options, and he has no final product

Will be such a joke if he starts against italy

  10. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

He has his advantages, and his work rate is fantastic. I think I'd want at least one of him and Lallana on the field to just sit on and close down Pirlo. This suits Lallana's game well, and Welbeck did this role brilliantly against Alonso in the 2013 CL

Also, how shit was Johnson last night. Everything he touched just turned to shit at his feet. Hope he improves before the tournament because we don't have anyone better

Its so shit how blessed we are at lb and how short we are at rb

I've never really understood why your classy fullbacks don't just change sides when that's the case. Lahm did it.

  14. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

In this country putting club over country is pretty common.

We do have some blokes who can perform well on both sides. Johnson himself can so a job at LB, and Clyne and Flanagn play both IIRC

    Flanagan

I've given up on GJ ages ago, shouldn't be first choice for England or Liverpool with his performances this season.

To me it seems like right footers can often play both, but rarely left footers on the right. Might just be because there are more right footers though, and I guess a left footed fullback will always play left if there's a right footed one on the team.

  17. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

Yeah I'd say you're much more likely to have a right footer playing at left back at youth level than the other way round so its probably how they come through

But Ferguson had to leave out Rooney to do that, and Hodgson doesn't have the balls.

If he starts it'll be on the wing where he's just a bit pointless.

They were pretty fluid as a front 4 against Peru. I think he'd still have Rooney but expect him or Sturridge to shift wide defensively

Milner at right back tomorrow night, well then. Rooney on the left too. Looks like we'll see

    Foster
    Milner - Smalling - Jones - Schaw
    Wilshire - Lampard (c) - Barkley
    Ox/Stirling - Lambert/Someone else - Rooney
