    The agreement includes:
    * A cash component of $925m, $90m of which will be paid prior to the start of the first season;
    * Advertising packages to the value of $100m;
    * The first 20 rounds of the premiership will be scheduled in advance of the season;
    * The final six rounds will be scheduled at round 16.

    The Nine Network will broadcast:
    * Three weekly matches (two on Friday and one on Sunday);
    * Three Thursday evening matches over the course of the year;
    * A stand-alone Test and City v Country weekend;
    * Wednesday night State of Origin matches;
    * A night-time Grand Final (7.15pm kick-off);
    * The Roosters-Dragons Anzac Day matches;
    * Two hours of rugby league content each evening on digital Channel 94 plus two hours of content on Saturday and Sunday morning;
    * Nine will ensure that all of its matches are telecast on either the ‘primary’ or ‘digital’ station in each state;
    * The Queensland In Trust Super Cup;
    * Nine will broadcast in HD from 2014.

    Fox Sports will telecast:
    * Five weekly matches across Saturday, Sunday and Monday;
    * Thirteen Sunday evening matches (6.30pm) over the course of the year;
    * The Storm v Warriors Anzac Day game (other than in 2014);
    * Three non NRL matches each week played in conjunction with the Telstra Premiership game (which will be shared between Toyota Cup, NSW Cup and GIO Schoolboys Cup);
    * All games will be broadcast live, ad-free during play and in HD;
    * Fox Sports has also acquired digital rights to stream its five live weekly matches via IPTV and tablet devices.

    Both networks will have responsibility for:
    * Coverage of the Four Nations tournament;
    * Forming two player development academies to train players in media presentation.

    Better for television, worst for the game.

    Yeh I dunno, I'm pretty surprised by this tbh... 10 were offering 3 games a week live on TV. Nine contractually speaking were always going to get the opportunity to match their bid or better it so they must have money wise because the terms of the deal don't seem to be anywhere near what 10 were offering.

    The fact that they'll show a QLD cup game live on Sunday but not the NRL game is ridiculous.

    I do like the fact that games will be given dates 20 rounds in advance, makes it so much easier to plan my life around footy (lol) & to plan for away games. Really wanna go to NZ next year.

    I agree with Julian as long as it was the best deal financially. I'm happy this happened because it means that warren smith stays with fox sports and rabs doesn't retire.

    There is also another big change that should be announced soon but I'm not allowed to publicly state it until it is officially confirmed. All I can say is that it is going to completely change the way the public get stats.

    Financially it'll be better than the AFL once the NZ TV rights are sold.

    Yeah, I think so too after considering it more, even if nothing else is added.

    An AFL telecast lasts about an hour longer than Leagues. It also has 3 lengthy stoppages as opposed to League's 1.

    Then you have around 1 ad for every goal, whereas League will give you one after a conversion and maybe an ad during random stoppages like scrums and dropouts.

    Then factor in that AFL have 1 more match every round than the NRL does.

    As far as Dollar per minute goes, NRL will have a pretty big advantage in that respect.

    Fuuuuck Foxtel, I don't want to buy that shit if I'll only use it like a couple of times a week.

    You can just get the sports package and that's it.

  14. Cribbage RG Cribb

    Oh fucking gun. Do you think I'm right to be as excited as I am? Can you PM me? :p

  15. GYR DW Lewis

    Within this five year period there will be some kind of player and or club stance against the Wednesday night origin.

  18. Julian BJ Taylor

    no you can't. you have the get the base package (absolute rip full of shit no one watches) and add the sports package. you should just be able to choose channels for like $4 each a month. I'd pay 20 for fs1,2,3 and n plus sky.

  19. Wilson SB Wilson

    Hahaha yeah that's what I've got. I only watch the sport channels. Why would I want to watch NITV?

  20. Julian BJ Taylor

    yeah I've got base plus sport plus my star

    need to try and rort it by disconnecting and then get my star for free again.

    the only thing I have it for is sport
