Nah. My mates missus has them and she reckons they are really good. Not sure I can trust her taste on it though haha, might have to borrow them and give them a crack.
25 odd pages left in Mandela. Overall he's not quite the worlds purest bloke like I imagined him to be. Pretty strong politician, some classic politician flaws about him though. Also a lot of the black politicians (including madela at times) throwing out racism calls whenever a newspaper goes against them. Really can't believe how shocking a person his ex wife Winnie Mandela is though and how weak he was in dealing with her criminal activities.
Indeed. Was pretty weak all-round with respect to Winnie. Just finished reading Alexander Dubcek's biography. Yeah, he's still a hero. Politician through and through, but he fought as much as he possibly could in the face of the overwhelming might of the Red Army to keep reforms in place. WAG.
Attempting to read through Culture Club again - written by Craig Schuftan from Triple J. Really interesting read, goes through how a lot of modern music ties into and is inspired by various art and art movements.
Yeah, didn't mind it. I've never really found any of the massively hyped books to be as good as they've claimed though.
Yeah I really enjoyed that book. Actually the third one in the series The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest is the best of the three IMO. It's such a pity the author died shortly after doing them.
Got given Roy Keane's autobiography so thought I'll give it a read even though I'm a Liverpool fan It's a good read so far (at the stage where Man Utd won the treble), you can tell how mentally strong he was as a player just in the first few chapters whilst playing in Ireland which only increased at his time with Forest and then at Man Utd. He also understood the psychological factors that are necessary to be an elite athlete whilst having the desire to put his body on the line for the club which was evident if you ever saw him play anyway. Seems like he has plenty of respect for Fergie which makes it strange that he did an interview a few months back slating him... but funny how much he dislikes Jack Charlton style of football for the Irish team and how he was clueless with tactics. Should be interesting to read more about why he quit the 2002 WC as well.
Hated it. I found the pacing terrible, the story doesn't live up to the hype, every man in the book seems to find the main chick amazingly attractive, and every two pages they have a coffee break. I also think it may not have translated from Swedish to English very well, since it reads a bit awkwardly in parts.
