This is such a gun thread. Reading The Pillars of the Earth after Astele mentioned it. Loving it so far.
cant remember if ive asked this on here.... but anyone read any of the jack reacher series by lee childs?
Yeah I've read all of them. Was really pissed off to see Tom Cruise getting cast as Jack Reacher in the upcoming movie One Shot.
yeah, class arent they? and yeah i saw that fucking bullshit. he's a foot to short for starters haha whats your fave one?
I really like most of them. The one where he gets kidnapped on the street with that Federal agent and ends up in Montana is probably my fave (Die Trying) and also where his former army buddy gets killed by being dropped out of a helicopter, so he gets the old team back together to investigate (Bad Luck & Trouble). They're all quality though.
yeah they are good. my fave is Gone Tomorrow, about the suicide bomber. think its awesome.... ive just started one shot
One Shot is really good, would make a great film. Unfortunately given the choice of lead actor I don't think that's going to happen now. The least they can do is stick rigidly to the story and not change it.
Read the synopsis on thebookdepository for some random reason, pretty much bought it blind though. Heard nothing about it.
Just started Swann's autobiography... Even in the first chapter, you can tell that his dad was a bit of a cunt... When Swann was around aged 8 and got out on his second ball, he didn't even bother acknowledging him when he went over to him.
I liked it but then again, I'm a big Hitch fan. I didn't like the ridiculous attacks on Chomsky, and his writing often seems forced in terms of verbosity but other than that, it was great. His youth is very interesting.
I'll let you know the verdict once I've finished. I've only just started reading it, and he makes a lot of references to other writers that are totally lost me on. In other news, saw Dawkins speak last night. Quite enjoyed it.
