Little more than a year away. It comes down to 5 teams for mine, Spain the favourites with Argentina, Germany, Italy and Brazil figuring to be thereabouts. Getting in early, I'm calling there'll be no bullshit African team run this year and Japan & Mexico will be the only non EU/South America team that will make the final 16 (assuming they don't draw the same group). Some historically stronger teams like Paraguay, Uruguay looking in danger of missing out along with Turkey and Serbia, two of the better squads in Europe already eliminated as well as teams like France, Portugal and England looking like they'll have to go through the 2nd phase of qualifying to get in. On the flip side, some laughable groups will see some weaker teams have a possible chance of getting in such as minnows Iceland and Albania being in with a shout in their group and Bosnia having theirs close to wrapped up as well.
Should be a good tournament. Anglo media to act all surprised when there's no real serious organizational cock ups. Not sure whether Brazilians will turn out for neutral matches, though. Gun to have 6 South American sides.
SPOILER ALERT: England to miss out on qualification. Argies a no chance either; Spain or Brazil with Jerry as outsiders.
Belgium will do well. Quarters or semis imo. Cheering on Ghana if SA don't make it/get kicked out early.
Even though Belgium are in a great position so far, top of the group with 5 wins and 1 draw, Croatia are still favourites due to Belgium having to go there and get a result Hoping to go to the Scotland vs Belgium in September
One of the worst groups? Are you joking? It's close to the toughest. Regardless, Serbia's just been unlucky. One of the best back 4s in the world and a very talented midfield. Just lacking a quality striker. If it were still Serbia & Montenegro it would be a top 5 side.
While we're knocking our own teams, Norway's group has to be the worst surely. Travesty that the team were top seeds.
Group E and G are absolute abortions of groups. Greece has to be the shittest top 10 side of all time surely.
Yup. Piss weak. I also find it faintly amusing that the only team in Yurp that has absoutely no chance of qualifying is the Sweaties. Even yer Sam Marimos and Andorratheexplorers have mathematical shouts still. Dalglish rolling in his grave, etc.
