Does anyone else think they'll play Copley at fullback? Would make some sense.

 

No, if the motive behind releasing Jennings is to get a fullback then the club will sign a genuine fullback not to add another makeshift one to the pile of sub first-grade standard fullbacks already in line for the position.

I'd love to think the club has got something up their sleeve but reality is Jennings is just sick of the traveling to work every day & he doens't want to relocate away from family.

Best case scenario we hold onto the 400k difference between Copley & Jennings and something pops up mid-season or we just start re-signing some players who contracts pre-date into this year.

 

Yeah. You use it to help keep Cordner and a few others. People forget that it's much easier to keep players than sign players due to the fact that if Cordner's on 200k right now and commanding offers of 500k elsewhere, the Roosters can upgrade his deal to include this year and offer 400k over the next three seasons and he doesn't lose out but they get to keep him for less. It's why more sides need to just go through a couple of years of mid-ladder mediocrity and not spend the entire cap.

 

Its dissapointing to say the least that we go from a centre pairing of Ferguson and Jennings to a centre pairing of Copley and SKD and our fullback goes from RTS to Ferguson.

I am excited to see how Joe Burgess goes though, I think he can be one of the best wingers in the comp. Reminds me a lot of Brett Morris except a bit bulkier and probably slightly better game sense. If he can handle the defensive requirements of the NRL then he should be a really good pick up.
