Not just his shit passing but QLD desperately needed someone like Friend defending in the middle during a lot of the game.

Walker is always good in those situations but you obviously can't play desperation football unless you're desperate, you need halves to construct a game. NSW should've been up by more than 8 when they were dominating but their halves did nothing with the attacking possession they had and just got caught up in the frantic pace instead of being calm and applying pressure. Pearce always did that as well.

Yeah. Qld’s defence was gash for most of the game. So many incomplete tackles. Makes NSW’s two try count look even worse as they should scored 4 or 5.

I thought Walker got injured or something, not that he was benched. I still don't know why Wighton was picked but if it was because he had doubts over Walker then obviously it should've been Walker who was on the bench and Maloney at 6. Walker's never played at that level and Cleary still barely has any experience and has to be full of doubt over his form, no wonder they folded with such little experience.

Really good atmosphere at the game last night. Need to re-watch the game sober, but I'd say the only change would be Macca in for Mbye.

Bet your bottom dollar we’ll pick a new five-eight, but Walker will move to the 14.

  7. Julian BJ Taylor

Having re watched Walker was horrendous. Hindsight is a great thing but is it really any wonder an edge of Walker, Mitchell and Addo Carr got fucking pillaged all night.

Mitchell is a big liability in defence. Said it months ago that he could be our avenue to some space. No one in the media talks about it cause he’s a freak.

Media have always been shit at giving defence critiques. There's also issues in the higher level of coaching in this regard.
Got in an argument with my ex-wife's boss a few years ago. He was the QLD U19 coach a while back and was going on about Hodges being the best defensive centre and that's why he was positioned on the right edge...

There's also the myth of JMo being a defensive centre due to his efforts on Inglis in 1 match. That had more to do with the service he received than anything else. See his horror show v Hodges and you see how bad he can be.

Mitchell will start playing good again now that he got a kick up the bum. Remember when he got dropped back to reserve grade and then started playing decent again. He'll repeat that pattern for his whole career, similar to Inglis, except now that he's an established player he''ll receive less criticism and therefore will have longer and longer lazy stints.

Klemmer apparently has a fractured wrist. Might even miss the 3rd game.

  13. Cribbage RG Cribb

    Yeah that's the series IMO.

  14. Julian BJ Taylor

Pretty important to drop Morris and not Cotric for Trbojevic too imo.

  15. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

That’s massive. He’s the best middle forward from either team by the length of the field.

  16. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Lodge and McLean are the front runners apparently.

  17. AVA T Delonge

I didn't realise that they actually hooked Walker when Wighton came on. Makes sense looking back, but I just assumed it was Fittler just being fucking weird.

    SOS Pearce

  19. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

    Really? You’re calling it?

Not much made of it but credit to DCE playing pretty solid with no matches under his belt since his injury and captaining for the first time. Fair effort.
