Lock them in.
Can't agree with Hess being a guarantee. He hasn't been great, definitely doesn't deserve his name in pen just yet. I'd have Munster at right centre, Morgan/DCE halves and Hunt in the 14.
I'll pick a 17 now, see how different it is when I pick it a few weeks out from game 1.
I'd agree that he hasn't been great, especially defensively but we just don't have any other impact players capable of causing damage as he does. I think he's been largely wasted in the middle. On the edge he was a major threat running at Maloney.
I'm not moving Munster unless Morgan shows 2017 form. Munster has been great so far at 6. He's got things to work on but you don't go moving the one half we've got left whose shown this quality unless the other bloke is kicking the door down.
I really didn’t like Munster at 6 at all, I’d give the 6 to whoever is playing the best out of Morgan/Milf.
I don't think it really matters that much. They are both capable of doing really well in either position.
Milford shouldn't play rep footy until Brisbane sign a halfback and he goes back to playing like a 6.
Milford is fucking mediocre.
Big call. He's an absolute gun when used right. Bennett thinks he can run a side, he really can't. Put him with a game manager and he will carve up again.
He’s not a gun. I don’t care if he’s playing outside Andrew Johns.
Queensland don't have a game manager though. I don't think Queensland can really pick a player who's a pure 6 for this reason; the organising role needs to be split up, so anyone who's going to play 6/7/9 needs to be at least somewhat competent at it so they can run an edge (or organise the forwards in the case of the 9).
It's why I'm kind of sceptical of Munster's best position in this side being 6 -- he's one of Queensland's best players and should obviously be playing, but maybe not there unless he develops his ability to organise an edge between now and next year (which tbf he probably will -- he's already developed it a lot this year doing it for Melbourne).
Im not even convinced Milford is a better traditional 6 than Munster anyway. Munster’s running game has been superb in his 4 matches. As wrong as we were about Milford being a club standard 6, I still think he is much more comfortable getting the ball wider.
Oh he's definitely not IMO. Munster is a really gun traditional 6 at this point; I'm just not sure traditional 6 is a position that can be allowed to exist in this side as it stands.
Obviously not an endorsement of Milford as he has the same issue and is an inferior player; I just think that maybe both DCE and Morgan need to be there in the halves to satisfy the structural burden. I may be convinced otherwise by this time next year though; Munster is really improving his game in this regard.
Yeah I’d also like to see what effect Ponga has on the game management as well.
Morgan without Thurston will be interesting; that’s if he even plays in the halves next year.
I'd be putting Munster in right centre. As I think either DCE or Morgan would provide better quality ball to the left edge which is where we will be tearing it up next year with Ponga/Inglis/Holmes.
Sad thing is the fact there's no real point in having this conversation. Because if Chambers is fit, he'll be selected. Chambers really is a poor man's Hodges.
Why are you running Hess on?
Complete lack of options.
