At 1st I thought it was cut and dry. After watching it a few times and in slowmo I think it may have gone almost directly sideways, favoring backwards. And as Lui's final point of contact on the ball was his shoulder which was facing his own goal line, the ball has gone back if anything. The line and 30m line and the position of the arrow indicate to me that the ball landed behind the point of contact on his shoulder. At the end of the day, there still isn't enough evidence to overrule the no-try decision, so the right call was made by the video ref; just perhaps not the refs on the field. Spidercam would have picked it up :P
One of the weirdest games. Yeah Cowboys copped some bullshit calls but if they didn't leave their defence on the sideline for the first 30 minutes they would have won comfortably.
Yep. You'd almost rather lose by 30 than give the opposition a 30-nil lead and then lose by 1. Makes you think what could've happened if they'd turned up in the first 40.
To reel the lead in with still 20 to go they should have got the job done. Had a lot of time left to complete what would have been the new record comeback margin.
Hoping Moga will get better defensively now he'll have an off season to work on it. That right side defence was a massive issue since Tate's injury. The second half against Brisbane was a preview to the first half on Friday. They just didn't seem to give a shit for the first half hour.
Perhaps but if the Cowboys had showed up from the get-go it wouldn't have been 30-0 to begin with. I think that's the point Paddy was making.
The right edge is terrible in defense. Feldt is great in attack but he just can't help himself when it comes to coming in on the centre way too early. I'm hopeful that on the back of Lui's form, they try to convert Coote into the right centre.
Precisely Agreed. Really pumped for next year. They lose Ashton Sims which sucks because this was undoubtedly his best season with them. Hope they can sign Ben Hannant.
