Probably better than Mancini, but beyond in game tactics in big games not convinced fully by Pellegrini either.

Unchartered waters really. Who knows how these owners will react to no trophies.

Pellegrini certainly stirring the pot though

Man City's owners actually strike me as fairly sane, it's 2 years of dreadful Champions League performances he'll get bulleted for. Which you can't really argue with, finishing behind Ajax and losing to a Dortmund reserve side shouldn't have happened when you look at the resources available to City.

Mancini has finished 3rd, 1st and 2nd, won an FA Cup and reached another final. That's an absolutely fantastic return, but I'm not convinced he can take City any further. I think he's a bit of a limited chequebook manager and I think City need more from their manager to match the ambition that the owners have for the club.

More than just results have been cited. Things such as poor communication with the board and players, failure to blood young players into the team, public rifts among the squad etc.

Interestingly if Pellegrini decides to turn City down Benitez is next in line

Would very much like to see Benitez at City. Think he'd probably win the league.

Chelsea > City in quality imo. Personally I think City will finish behind them next season if Chelsea can get better depth and a decent striker.

Don't really agree. All City need is one more class CM, a LB and perhaps Arjen Robben, and they'd win the league, IMO. Easier said than done but you'd imagine they'll hand the new manager a fair amount.

They handed Mancini a fair amount too but there's nothing you can do if players just don't want to sign for you.

I heard Isco was going to follow Pellegrini though tbf and he's quite the talent.

You also obviously can't rule Utd out again. If we get Ronaldo we'll have a great side.

United and Chelsea have a lot of players still improving and on the up. City not so much.

Plus both City and Chelsea have problems with depth compared to United which is crucial running a full campaign. Chelsea have a lot of players on loan, so they can use them as squad players now but it's Chelsea so you never know.

Benitez is a much better manager than Mancini though.

I really don't agree but there you go

Rafa would get the right men in for those positions as well. It'll take him hundreds of millions and about 30 transfers but he will get there eventually.

Mancini had a lot of issues with the owners heading into this season I thought? In terms of getting money out of them for transfers.

I don't see why players wouldn't want to sign for City, but want to sign for Chelsea, either. Maybe Mourinho would be a pull for certain players but he's not exactly mates with the Madrid squad, for example.

Pretty sure he had the money. They put in bids for both Hazard and RVP but both players turned City down.
The guy who signed Sinclair and Rodwell wasn't Mancini but some other bloke iirc

Hazard joined them because they were the European Champions, but there's alot more reports of done deals with Chelsea than City at this stage
