hardly a big step forward for him though. i guess in terms of stadium, fans, and wage packet it is, but league position its not.
Really? Your saying moving to Liverpool from a newly promoted team isn't a big step forward? Yes Swansea had a good season, but Liverpool are better in just about every aspect from a manager's point of view.
Would probably help if you said it champ, since the discussion is about Rodgers.... And Villa is still a nice step up from Wigan, easily.
Villa was a library when I went there this season. Behind the goal in the Villa end and noone singing at all
Also if West Brom get Ralf Rangnick as manager, that's a steal for them. Great manager, wouldn't of minded him at Liverpool TBH
Yeah, this. He has got a Chairman who backs him and provides decent finances too. Don't see why he'd move to Villa under Lerner unless he is promised full control and decent budget to build his team.
no one wants to cheer a team with mcleish managing. ive seen villa park foerm the outside (fuck going in there ) it is does like decent imo. shit club, remember who i support haha my post was directly mouses post, where the last thing he said was martinez to villa?
They are traditionally a bigger club that Wigan, but currently i doubt it's that much of a step up for him, unless there is a bigger plan for Villa that can be sold to him.
Of course its a big step up... Wigan will always be a relegation threatened club whereas Villa have the potential to be a top 7/8 club if they have the right backing and manager again.
"If" being the key word. They haven't spent much under Lerner for a while now and have sold many key players. He has a Chairman at Wigan who will back him through thick and thin, and also gives him a free hand + not bad financial resources to spend. Risking that for a Villa job which has become musical chairs in recent times doesn't make sense to me, with almost the same resources but less freedom and backing. Also, the Villa Squad right now doesn't suit his philosophy much either and would require a shake up.
Yeah, going to Villa it seems. As i expected Martinez has snubbed them - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...heir-attentions-to-Norwichs-Paul-Lambert.html
Btw, choosing Rodgers over Martinez is a interesting move by Liverpool. Didn't Martinez leave behind most of the current setup and the long term plan with which Rodgers has built on at Swansea? Can't see them giving him a complete free hand either.
