Having lost the head of SMERSH at the hands of the Germans, the Russians began their fightback. Marshall Zukhov's army was ready and strong enough to become a real force in the war. They advanced, destroying everything in their path...however, their target was not who they expected it to be.

AVA is dead. He was General Charles de Gaulle, Leader of the French Resistance, Allied.

The Germans on the other hand, continued in their efforts to win the war. And tonight would represent their biggest success. The British defences were weakened with the loss of the Navy, now the Germans would claim perhaps the biggest prize of the whole war.

Meanwhile in Poland, rumours about the horrors taking place at Auschwitz continue. Now up and running, it is believed that prisoners are taken there and executed very quickly. Poison gas is the rumoured method of killing - it allows the Germans to kill huge numbers of people in a short space of time. Amongst the dead are those brave Poles who have attempted to resist German occupation in the hope of re-claiming their homeland after the war. However, tonight the horrifying news is that the leader of the Polish Resistance himself perished at Auschwitz.

The Gestapo had acted quickly and ruthlessly when seizing Komorowski. Searching his apartment, it soon became apparent that he had been hiding someone. In the hidden cellar of his apartment block, a family of Jews had been discovered. They too were rounded up onto a train, only to disembark in a strange field surrounded by huts. They were led to a forest, where they were told by the guards to remove their clothing before heading for a shower. Into the hut they were marched. The door behind them closed tight. No water came from the shower, and the last thing they remembered was the sense of mass panic amongst their fellow prisoners.
