Yeah, but as SmellyStuff said, the italian side that was fielded was very inexperienced, and was pretty much an experiment, and giving a run to the guys who were fringe players really.

You'd still think that the Italian fringe players would be able to win alot more comfortably than 4-3 though. IMO, the game would be the equivalent of the All Blacks second XV trailing Italy 20-0 with 15 minutes to go. Graham Henry panics, subs on Dan Carter, Richie McCaw, Sitiveni Sivivatu, Mils Muliaina, Rodney Soi'oalo and Joe Rokocoko and the ABs scrape through with 3 quick tries to win 21-20.

Yeah, i guess your right. Who knows then really. It should've been all over early, but you look at the scorers for Italy. They are both high calibre players.

    Asian qualifiers tonight.

Australia v Japan - Dead rubber for 1st and 2nd place in Group A

Bahrain v Uzbekistan - The big Group A game. Uzbekistan must win by 2 goals or more to qualify for 3rd, Bahrain only need a 1-0 loss or draw.

South Korea v Iran - Korea have already sealed up 1st place. Iran need to win this game and hope the other Group B game ends in a draw.

Saudi Arabia v North Korea - A win is really necessary for either side. A draw would be enough for North Korea, assuming South Korea defeats Iran.

These games will be playing tonight throughout the evening.

    Australia 2-1 Japan
    South Korea 1-1 Iran

This means that Iran need North Korea to defeat Saudi Arabia comfortably if they are to achieve 3rd place.

Japan having nightmares of Australia coming back with Cahill doubles.

Ahh, I stopped watching the Aus game at half time, was boring as sin.

It certainly seemed as though Australia weren't playing for a win when I was watching, just seemed as though they were playing not to lose, then all of a sudden they're a goal down so they switch on and start playing attacking football. Why that wasn't the case from the start I just don't know.

are we any closer to finding out who the 5th placed team is?

How does everyone reckon NZ will go against Saudi Arabia or Bahrain... going onr ecent form they will get their asses kicked, but if they pick themselves up after losing all 3 Confed games (which they will lose) do you reckon they have a realistic shot or not?

  12. Speirz DG Speirs

They've got a decent shot over only two legs. Definitely not favourites though.

Stranger things have happened and with guys like Nelsen and Killen they could provide an upset especially if Smeltz has a good performance.

I'd love to see NZ in the next Worldy.

NZ would be fun at the WC, lose every game prolly though...

To be honest, NZ need Nelsen in defence the game against Espanol showed that. If Nelsen plays well and one of our strikers firs we are in with a shot.

  16. Sultan Pepper HG Emm

    Who's in NZ's group?

  17. chapnis CO Chapnis

In the WC, I'll have to scour the Fifa site to see if thats somewhere.

  18. chapnis CO Chapnis

    Must be there somehwere...

  19. Roaddogg AJ Izett

the draw obviously hasn't been done yet
