Who is going to win?

Unless Carney, Pearce, Anasta or Friend cop a season ending injury I think the Roosters will be fine. They've got enough talent in their squad to cover other injuries IMO.

Hell Paea and Guerra are playing for Newtown atm so that covers just about any forward injury (which will probably happen at some point).

As long as Carney remains at 6, with Pearce at 7 and the forward pack making metres, his form will not frop off. It's not even a matter of form it's just a matter of playing in position, in a good team, with his match fitness back to 100%. As much as I hate how the whole situation has left my team (and other situations have left their current teams; Bird and Cronulla) I've always maintained that Carney is the best junior I've ever seen come through the ranks. Yes I saw Lockyer and other guns debut but I was too young to understand it back then.

The thing with Carney is that he was nurtured (in a footballing sense) exceptionally. Was promoted to 1st division/premier league very, very young into one of the strongest teams in the comp. And Elliott, rather than promote Carney at 17/18 despite his talent, signed Jason Smith as a tutor for 2 years. Carney played off the bench, a bit of reggies and at times started all while training full time with Jason Smith as his mentor. By the time Smith left Carney was ready (and one of the best young players) for the NRL. Moving him to halfback (although it was done sporadically) was a mistake but that's just as much to do with the modern game as poor coaching.

As a rugby league fan I'm happy to see him playing NRL.

Actually this brings up an interesting question. Were you happy in 05 Cribbage? Like over the moon omfg we just won the comp lets go and get ****ing wasted for the next week happy? Or cool, we won the comp lets go on Sidhe to celebrate happy?

Any side that lost to the Cowboys, Sharks and Knights within 4 rounds is always more than capable of falling apart IMO.

I wasn't as excited as I thought I'd be tbh. I always dreamed of it as a kid - like literally I had dreams about Wests winning the comp when I was five or six and I'd draw pictures of fictitious scoreboards where they'd thumped Parramatta in the grand final and pin them up in my bedroom etc etc.

When it happened I was definitely excited, and I tried to pretend I was more excited than I was to make it actually happen, but it wasn't the lifelong dream fulfilment I thought it'd be. And funnily enough after that I stopped really caring as much about the team because I'd already seen them win a grand final.. it put a lot of things about my support of them into perspective a bit and I've slowly become what I am now.

You're ****ed Cribb. As if Parra would make the final.

  7. Cribbage RG Cribb

Thumping them in the final would've been the best thing ever.

Them coming last with no wins is gunner imo.

Heaps gonna do that now :ninja:

It's interesting because you were at an adultish age weren't you? Like 18 or something? So you were able to properly process the awesomeness of it. The biggest thing I am frustrated with is that we won the comp when I was 12 (well actually I was 11 still at the time for another month), so I couldn't truly celebrate, I had to go home after the game. Would it have been more if it was Western Suburbs who won the comp?

Depends why you hate them I suppose. I hate them mainly because I live amongst all their bandwagon-hopping, retarded fans. Rubbing it in to a team that comes last with no wins is a bit of a dickhead move but rubbing it in after a grand final win is fair game.

Yeah, this is why when we finally win a comp it will be a week of being drunk at St.George leagues.

I reckon it is the opposite. The feeling of losing a grand final is all the pain of winning no games in the year, hitting you in one night.

Yeah I was 17 so I completely understood and processed it. Funnily enough I think I'd have loved it a lot more if I happened when I was ten because I was lot more obsessed and team-orientated back then. When you know too much about something, the magic of it goes away to some extent.

I don't know if it would have been different if it was the Magpies.. it might have brought my inner child's dream realisation out a bit more if that makes sense, but I don't think it would've made too much difference. I copped the merger pretty well tbh; I just keep following my team as normal in 2000.

    What changed then?

Yeah, but if you're watching the grand final with mates, there's a very appropriate time to celebrate and let rip. The moment is never really perfect to lay into them for losing every single game without seeming like a dickhead tbh.

Yeah, when we lost in 99, i was shatterd, admittedly i was only 9 but i was guttered. Same feeling in 05 when we lost to the Tigers.

Well I can tell you from experience while it is frustrating, it is much easier taking shit from people for being shit throughout the season than from people when we have just lost the Grand Final.

Exactly why I'd rather give it to Parramatta supporters after they've lost the grand final. :p

I've had two opportunities to do it, but both times I'd have been the brunt of "Oh well at least we were there". If Wests beat Parra instead of NQ in the 05 grand final it would have been so much more awesome for me.

Hahahaha just reminded me of how much Parra choked in that game hahahaha.
