Wallace still strong. He's no Lockyer but he's certainly picked up his consistency, just a rock really. McCullough is kinda the same, hasn't pulled out any huge shockers, Norman is also starting to play with a bit more confidence. Still not 100% on Sammy being captain but by all reports the players love him leading. Really dig our side as a whole.
Wallace was kinda shitty IMO. He still has no idea when to run the ball either. I guess neither does Norman, but he hasn't been in FG for as long as Wallace, and his running game is actually effective.
Yes it does. Hodges is easily our best right centre, and is a must pick. Prince has always hated Hodges, same as Julian and you.
Speaking of Hodges, going into this game he was averaging like .9 missed tackles per game, can't remember how many he was making. 19 rings a bell, but that seems a bit high. He missed 3 and only made 4 tonight, can't recall him having any bad misses, they were mainly him rushing for a shot and slipping off. Didn't lead to any breaks or half breaks, IIRC
And Hodges was the only person who made a tackle in that set of 6. Was a fucking good one too. The kinda tackle origin players are made of.
We don't like him because he's overrated and often shit. That's not the opposite of your partiality for Hodges, which is borne of the fact that he plays for Brisbane. ie. holding an opposing view of Hodges to you does not make us biased. We have no reason to be biased against Hodges. You have a very obvious reason to be biased for Hodges. If he played for Manly or for Souths or for Easts, your opinion of him would be vastly different. Ours wouldn't change one iota.
Ever since moving to 'rural gold coast' i dont have channel nine anymore.. someone please explain to me how Brisbane keep winning? are they just winning every game from the roll forward their forwards create? because from what ive seen their halves can't create shit, they seem to usually get a lucky kick try or 2 a game though. Surely any team could beat them by centralising their defence.. they don't exactly have fast centres.. and plenty of dummy half scoots until momentum kicks in and their forwards can't keep up?
ATM, the forward pack, the bench, the centres and fullback are all class, so they keep on winning. I think McCullough has been coming along fairly well too, for the last month or so. He's incredibly inconsistent, but the talent is clearly there. Norman needs to work on his selective passing, and when to run. Wallace just needs to keep his form up. He also needs to run less, he thinks he's a bowling ball, aiming for about 6 defenders at the same time.
Mind you, we really haven't been tested against the better sides yet, apart from the Dragons. We haven't played Melbourne, Manly, Canterbury, or Cronulla.
No, not really. I mean the Dragons played well in the 2nd half, but that was when the game was already won, and the team went to sleep. Other than that, they've all been surprisingly(?) poor.
Are there any other high quality teams outside of Melbourne atm? It's been a pretty slow start to the season. Pretty sure Melbourne and Brisbane meet during the origin week so will be a pretty non event anyway.
