    Can't take anything away from the Knights, not their fault the Panthers were so shit.

    For a Round 1 performance it was certainly everything you'd like to see imo.

    I really cannot believe people still use this tired, old illogical argument. It's like when people wanted to drop Hodges for Jennings in the 2009 Four Nations. "Oh well it's not Jennings's fault that he got to play against France and scored 3 tries and Hodges had to play against New Zealand and did fuck all."

    You could say the exact same thing if they'd played against a team of 12-year-olds - "It's not their fault they played against 12-year-olds." It's not anybody's fault. And even if it was, that doesn't change the fact that he scored 3 tries against FRANCE. :clapping:

    RL matches are not standardised. How well you play is almost always directly affected by the opposition. It is at the very least, latently affected.

    I actually agree with you though Magic. Credit must be given to Newcastle just as credit must be given to Canberra for beating a disgraceful Sharks side. Canberra and Newcastle both played well. I just disagree with the way you argue the point. I think it weakens your case.

    AFAIC it's inexcusable for a first grade footballer to be called offside once on a kick off/drop out once let alone multiple times. I'd also expect a first grade fullback who's position is under pressure to put up more of a show than Coote did, he was woeful.

    Panthers were ridiculously bad, and I think the the Knights were ok, but nothing more, even for round 1. If they were on their game they'd have put 70 on us, IMO.

    Pretty much every post I make about Newcastle is going to be riddled with bias as I hate the way the current team plays the game despite really quite liking the club. Playing like that and winning is totally illogical to me. No-one should really take any notice of it though.
