  3. Black Toast Forever TG Bullpitt

I hope Feldt plays in this trial. Have made a bet with mates that Feldt will be in the starting 17 come round 1. If not, I eat cat food.

  4. Cribbage RG Cribb

Cat food? What sort of idiot offers to eat cat food..

But yeah you should be right. He was already first in line to take over from Ash Graham and he's cemented that claim by being fucking awesome in the Nines.

  5. Magic AJ Parker

Feldt missed the last game due to injury... haven't heard anything since? Is he going to be fit...

  6. morgieb MC Burridge

Won't Sutton play five-eighth during the season due to Keary's injury? Who's our five-eighth?

  7. Black Toast Forever TG Bullpitt

As I do my morning business on the john, I read that he has been all cleared and should be named for this weekends trial.

  8. Black Toast Forever TG Bullpitt

Nah, Walker has been training at 5/8 a little bit this pre season, so I think they will give him first gig. I really rate Walker quite highly.

  9. morgieb MC Burridge

Ah fair enough, thought he'd play centre.

Yeah I rate walker, will be the x-factor in the back line for us assuming he doesn't go elsewhere within a couple of years.

  10. jazman84 JM Eightyfour

Does he have to eat cat food if he does play??

  11. Black Toast Forever TG Bullpitt

    Unfortunately, no.

  12. hen da man HRT Daman

So what does he have to do?

Raiders name strong squad for Tamworth trial

The Canberra Raiders have named a 28 man squad for their final trial match against the Newcastle Knights in Tamworth this Saturday night, with Anthony Milford, Josh Papalii, Shaun Fensom, Brett White and Paul Vaughan set for their first games of the 2014 season.

Raiders Coach Ricky Stuart said he expects to give all 28 players an equal opportunity to impress ahead of their round one match and said any of the players could find themselves in the first round team if they performed well Saturday.

“I’ve said all along that the players will pick themselves for round one and they get a chance to impress in this trial,” Stuart said. “We’ll give all of the guys a chance to get some quality minutes in Tamworth, while the players not going will get a chance to play for Mounties in Sydney on Sunday."

some interesting comments in the media suggesting ahearn is pushing for a first grade spot, possibly at centre.

Stuart said Milford will play fullback and campese/Cornish have first shot at halves, which is a relief. baptiste nowhere to be seen is puzzling though, same with o'donnell and setu.

  15. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

That squad is ridiculously underrated by bookies and punters alike IMO.

  16. Julian BJ Taylor

there's only two second rowers ffs. if Stuart gets the pack right it will match it with most sides (running forwards wise anyway). if we stay fit all year then dane tilse won't be needed. Vaughan, shillington, white, tll and Nicholls is a pretty good top 5 props if Dane tilse is number 6 I reckon. then papalii and Fensom are great but they're let down by the other second rower IMO.

  17. Cribbage RG Cribb

And even then one of them was a better player when he was a lock.

  18. Julian BJ Taylor

I didn't count Edwards because I still think he should be a lock. I don't mind him starting at second row, then having a better second rower playing the rest of the game and Edwards shifts into the middle rotation.

Kennedy is the second second rower there and he's an out and out reserve grader.

  19. Toolman TR Man

That's what we all thought last year lol.

  20. Cribbage RG Cribb

I didn't even realise Kennedy was in the squad, must've skipped over him.

Must be frustrating to know that your best Under 20s forward is yet another lock who probably won't take to the second row as well. He'll continue to dominate lower grades though and the blokes on your club forum will whinge about him not being selected as he's "one of your best back rowers" etc.
