    It's just a mentality brought up from decades of stuff like 'Wingers are blokes that hang around footballers' and all through juniors the spuds got thrown on the wings. Plus on a wing it can feel a bit like the game is dictated to you and is a bit more high pressure with defusing bombs etc.

    It's stupid though, between the aerial stuff and the way some teams use wingers as extra forwards out of trouble, you can basically play as a forward in attack without having to tackle and score a few tries while you're out there ala Mansour.

    Interesting that 2 days after Cotric Canberra look set to sign Curtis Rona. I always liked him and if he’s on a small contract (less than 300k) it’s not the worst outcome imo.

    Also hoping James Hooper is correct about CHN when he says he’s demanded an immediate release from Canterbury so he can join Canberra.

    CHN is such a good pick up for the Raiders. Really rate him.

    I would probably play Bateman at lock now if I was Stuart.

    Yeah was talking to Taylor about this yesterday.

    It now means that Tapine is a specialist prop and Bateman is a 70-80 minute lock at the back end of the season, but it still totally works for them.

    But Warriors are based in New Zealand. All these Australians don't mind Aotearoa but it isn't home. So we are having trouble getting any Aussie to come to NZ unless he has a problem with his resume.

    He's a good risk IMO. He's been in a Robinson set-up before and played/trained with a significant part of the squad so he's got a good head start.

    If he flops and struggles to make it back to the standards of the NRL... then he chewed up some cap space we had sitting there from Latrell Mitchell's departure anyway.

    If he succeeds then he provides us with an impact forward who can hopefully create and offer something different in attack. Something none of our other forwards really offer since we lost Radley.

    Has 10 weeks to get match fit tho. Even if he starts off playing 30 or so, come finals he'd be right. Lots of players have come into firsts this year without even playing reserves and have done ok, even when playing more minutes than expected.
