Lockyer would have kicked them all.

  2. Magic AJ Parker

His attack in the centres this year has been very good, do you watch Manly much if at all?

  3. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

I've seen 3 or 4 Manly games. I wasn't impressed. And Rep footy is a different type of game.

Doesn't make it correct or logical. Hayne isn't a winger's arsehole.

You are ****ing joking right? What did Lyon do tonight or in any rep match for that matter that Tate hasn't done twice over in attack?

And you're ten times the ****ing idiot I thought you were. Harrison offers ball playing and discipline with much better defence.

    So let's take tonight.

Paul Gallen - 12 runs for 114m, 45 tackles and 3 misses, 1 error, 2 penalties and 0 offloads. At face value that is excellent.

Now let's take a meagre 20m off his metre-age for every infringement and also take a meagre 4 tackles off his count for the extra tackles we had to make because of his indiscipline, as well.

That makes 12 runs for 54m and 33 tackles. That is garbage. Do penalties and errors matter at all to you people or what?

Even though he has comprehensively outplayed Lyon in rep football for the last 8 years.

I wasnt supporting his selection, as I said there is no way they would leave him out.

Im talking about of late, form has to come into it and im not just talking rep form. Tate has be through a tough time with injuries over the last few seasons and his club form just isnt there.
I worded it totally wrong tbh, im talking in comparison to players like Gallen and Watmough who are in the squads. They just dont see as 'stable' in the side both defensively and in attack, im not arguing that a player like Harrison who is a lot more 'no-nonsense' than the other players is what is lacking. I think with time Lewis will do that job. The beauty of having the depth that Australia has is that no matter how many **** ups the selectors make we will still beat NZ.

That may well be the case, but you overrate these penalties and errors.

His club form has been solid. Why should form over 8 rounds outweigh the last 4 or 5 years of rep football? I thought we were picking a rep team here.

That's not a beauty. It's a curse. It means we have undeserving hacks like Perry and Williams and Stewart given Australian jerseys and supposedly being vindicated by the media and public as long as we win. It means Waterhouse plays 10 Tests and Johnson plays 1.

If anything I underrate their cost. What actually happened when Gallen knocked on? I took 20m and 4 tackles off him.

Watching the tape, Australia were in good field position 35m out from NZ's line on tackle 2. So we basically waste half a set that would've ended in their red zone. We make 5 more tackles (incidentally, 3 of which Gallen makes and thus adds to his tally making his performance look better) and end up with Slater taking a Marshall bomb in our in-goal. So the actual sum was - Missed chance at NZ's goal line. Loss of 55m. 5 extra tackles. Bomb diffusion in our own in goal (when it should've been us bombing them).

If you don't think errors and penalties mean a lot, go through a round of footy or the season perhaps and see how many times the teams with the most errors and penalties against them, win.

    Woeful 14.28% win rate.

One of the correct, constant assertions in the RL media that we all hear is, teams finding it hard or impossible to defend their errors and penalties. And it's true. Take Gallen's first touch in Game 2 last year. That try that Inglis scored in the 3rd minute was as much Gallen's fault as it is the bloke/s who missed him (incidentally Gallen being one of them).

It's very much like tennis. Have a look at how often the bloke who makes the most unforced errors, goes on to win. Penalties and errors should be seen as unforced errors in our game, unless we have good evidence to the contrary.

You sit next to me during an Origin and you will barely ever hear me say "Get it to JT" or "Get it to GI" or "Kick for Folau." What you will hear me scream at the top of my lungs ever second set QLD are in possession is, "HOLD THE ****ING BALL." If it even looks like an offload in our own half - "HOLD IT FFS." If we're playing catch-up type footy when only a try down with plenty of time to go - "CUT THIS SHIT OUT AND JUST GO FORWARD FFS."

Do you know how many games the heavier infringing side has won in the last two Origin series? 1. 1 game from 6.

Plenty of people wanted to give praise to Gallen in Rd1 when he made 160m and 36 tackles. That on it's face value looks great. Then we discover the Sharks lost by 4 and Gallen made that many infringements himself.

They cost you matches, whether you want to believe it or not.

Was an alright game. I thought it was a little boring and I thought Australia were average. My Man of the Match would be Luke Lewis though and not because he plays for Penrith but because every one of his touches looked dangerous.
I thought Kurt Gidley played well out of dummy half.

  9. Andato BJT Manera

I thought Lewis was a little average. He would always break down play by running at the line when they were ten out rather than passing it out wide.

  10. Lukic L Popovic

Man of the match for looking dangerous about 3 times. Gosh you're a dolt Hughesy.

  11. Andato BJT Manera

I thought MOTM could have went to Inglis. He was dominant.

  12. Hughesy JM Hughes

Thaiday was deserving though for sure.

What the **** are you on about you dickhead **** Lukic? He really some really strong runs and even made a few holes. More than what Gallen did. His defence was also good. One thing I will say is though that I thought Petero was poor. He has been good for Penrith all season so far but he just seemed to be struggling to handle the intensity/

  13. Lukic L Popovic

But he should've been man of the match.

    Okies.

  14. Hughesy JM Hughes

I said he was my man of the match. Thaiday was a fair enough pick though.

Gidley was decent at dummy half, but I was seriously worried about him every time he goes to dummy half on the 5th - I was hoping he won't go for a kick himself, and unfortunately I was wrong. Was good in defense and ran when needed.

Lewis really wasn't that good tbh.

Yeah. I reckon Gidley played fairly well. 38 tackles, no missed tackles. I was impressed.

  17. Colesy BL Hornby

So St.George drew 12 all with the rest of the world in this game last night.
