Well given that City are title prospects, 4th would be poor for them whereas FA Cup silverware would be good But if it were any team that usually sits 5th or below, I'd take 4th. Qualification for the Champions League >>> FA Cup silverware.
If I was in the PL, money from champions league >>> winning FA cup. With the extra money you could do so much more.
4th place means more money and playing in the best club level competition in the world putting your club on the world stage and being able to potentially attract the best players from around the world. Winning the FA cup means you won some shitey cup which is far less significant in the modern day.
>Implying the FA Cup is anything but shitey in the modern day. Maybe 50 years ago it meant something. Not now.
There is no logic behind taking 5th over winning the Cup. As a fan, I'd rather win a trophy than qualify for another one. Sure, I'd expect the board and management to have other priorities and have to consider the balance sheets, but ultimately silverware is what you want as a football fan. When kids grow up and start loving their team, they study the honours list and '4th in the Prem' isn't on there.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Yes, it means less now than it did in the 90s (50 years ago is an absolutely retarded thing to say) but it's still a trophy that the majority of English football fans would absolutely love to see their team win.
FA Cup is a big tournament, if not as big as it used to be. Qualifying for the Champions League is bigger.
It's obviously great to win the FA Cup or a domestic cup in another league for that matter, but to even remotely compare it to qualifying for Champions league or Europe alone (obviously you do qualify by virtue of winning the FA cup but just imagine you didn't in this instance) is laughable.
