Can't think of the last top keeper England produced, everyone seems to have too many fuck up moments to take the mantle. Seaman could arguably be considered, though i always saw him as more solid than spectacular, and had a nasty habit of being lobbed when he really shouldn't (Nayim, Ronaldinho, Lee Dixon) Scary feeling we might have to go back to Shilton coming through in the 60's (though I don't know what he was like in the first few centuries he played, from what I remember from the Robson era he was more keeper by default of no decent challenge)
Ignoring the obvious Everton bias there, I was always a fan of Martyn, felt he was a bit underrated, the perils of playing for small time unfashionable clubs like Palace and Leeds i suppose.
Always tainted by his horrors against the USA in 92 for me. Spent too many years in the amateur leagues too Kinda worries me he's now our GK coach, especially considering our track record of turning decent keepers into horrorshows since Schmeichel left (Van der Saar being one of the very few expections)
