    Code:
    Motherboard Asus P8Z77-M-Pro $129.00
    CPU	Intel Intel i7-3770 $299.00
    RAM G.Skill Ripjaws-X 2133 8GB Kit $62.00
    HDD Seagate SATA3 2TB $106.00
Graphics Card ASUS AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB $310.00
Case & PSU Antec Sonata IV $175.00
                                            Total $1,081.00

I've had this in mind for myself, just copied and pasted it from a spreadsheet I have set up. Those prices are in AUD but $1,081 AUD is about $1,380 SGD. Doesn't include a disc drive or monitor as as I was just planning to keep my current ones. Would be a pretty boss rig for the price, and if you wanted faster r/w speeds you could just add in a SSD for an extra $100-200.

    Build your own

@Bradford, I'd consider getting a different PSU as ones that are included with the case aren't generally the best. And SSDs are worth it imo. Even if you just get a 120GB one like I have.

I would but I know nothing with regards to how to go about doing it.

    Nah it's almost exactly = to 1NZD.

Generally they aren't any good but the Antec Sonatas usually come with pretty decent PSUs I believe. It'd be more than capable of handling the load.

It comes with that. It's not anything awesome but I'm pretty sure it's more than capable of handling the load.

Cheers. I'm looking at this -

    i7-3770 processor
    NVIDIA GeForce GT630
    8GB RAM
    1TB HDD
    23" LED Monitor

for $1,499 SGD which is about $1,172 AUD

A 630 won't be able to do a whole heap but if you're not planning on playing graphics intensive games it should do alright.

  13. TBra TJ Bradford

GTX 630 isn't gonna give you good graphics performance. You're better off downgrading the CPU to an i5 and going with a better graphics card.

    So AU$100 then.

  15. Chewie JA Chewie

Even choosing your own parts then going to a computer store and getting them to build it may be cheaper

    Yes.

  17. TBra TJ Bradford

Definitely. Don't go with pre-built systems unless you plain and simply cbf.

  18. Captain SSD Dong

I see. What's a decent Graphics card if I'm just going to be playing stuff like Dota2 and Skyrim for example (in the foreseeable future).

Yea the i5-3570k or the i5-3450 if you're not overclocking would be good enough and you could potentially get a 660Ti

    HD 7850
    HD 7870
    GTX 660

I'd personally go the HD 7870.
