Or possibly, teams in the bottom half of the table get to retain more players than teams in the top half.
The old sides were still able to retain some of their players when much more new sides and much bigger squads were introduced iirc (last season it was 16 x 13. This time it's 22 x 18)
They would just have to pick from the unretained players. There should still be a group of quality players that weren't retained. Could even be the bottom 4 teams that get 1 or 2 extra retained players and rest with a set number.
But if more retentions are allowed for 22 existing teams then most of the best players would be retained in any case. As team owners would want to play safe rather than risk it with potentially say 23/25 other teams vying for the same player . And if more teams are added and squads made bigger ,then retaining as many players as you can makes more sense as the dillution of talent will be even wider than it is now ,except of course the teams with the retired players.
I like the retention module that we had for this season. A couple of teams (mine definitely included) didn't use their retention well enough. For instance I should have retained Herath as a round 11 pick and Tuffey as a round 12 pick.
Yeah. It's basically going to be the same as that. Which rounds picks actually count as will change a bit though. For example, lets say we have 26 teams. If you have pick #23, that would have been made in Round 2 in Season 2.. but in Season 3, pick #23 is a Round 1 pick, so if you retain the bloke, you lose your Round 1.
I think around 6. May make retentions very interesting tstl, particularly for the better sides. Also, Crabb, do you think that Marcuss knowing the simming averages makes his side at a big advantage?
Six seems good. A third of the players. If I change the rounds to reflect it properly then there's no reason we can't have more than 5. I could make it a bit stricter and not allow you to retain two Round 1 picks if you have two (for example) and allow up to 8, even.
Marcuss doesn't know the simming averages. He knows a couple of things (best batsman, best bowler etc) because I thought he was gonna get the database, but in the end he didn't get it because I'm simming it. So he knows fuck all tbh.
Not keeping 2 round 1 picks would be gun for overall picking for new people and well...me because I need it
