    I've done a fair bit of it before and banning bots isn't an easy job, especially if more keep registering daily. You tend to quickly lose your enthusiasm for it. Had to face the same problem on another forum and I think even the captcha settings and registration questions didn't help. An upgrade was what sorted it out in the end iirc.
