Missing Foran is a pretty big deal too. ,ay have been better off bringing a half in or moving Lyon to 6.
lol okay. maybe the Roosters will have a scrappy game and lose in a few rounds time after 3 or 4 more dominant performances and you can come into that thread and talk about how shit they are and how you were right all along...
How about you scrape up a modicum of intellectual honesty and stop putting words in my mouth? I never said the Roosters were shit. Nothing I said about Manly's chances as opposed to the Rooster's chances were in conflict with what Magic said. He agrees Manly are probably a better chance. As I said the other day, Easts beating Manly doesn't mean they're a better chance of wining the comp. You're the one who said Easts would flog Manly in a prelim. We'll see how that goes.
Words in your mouth? You did exactly what I said when they lost to the Warriors, even though after 2 runaway tries they still grinded out a victory if SKD didn't drop the ball over the line.. but apparently that tiny drop was enough for you to leap upon them like the vulture you are to suck the blood out of a bit of bad luck to feed your narcissism and to cling on to the tiny hope you still have that they aren't premiership contenders so you don't look stupid. They're not even slightly better than Manly, they're clearly better than them. Every week you just make yourself look dumber and dumber. You could've stopped this in Rnd 8 or so and nobody would have made a big deal out of it. But now you're well into the deep end and your mother was too poor to afford enough swimming lessons for you to get out of this one.
Show me where I said they were shit. Are Magic and EWS in that swimming pool? You seem like you're on your rags or something. I didn't hear you talking up their premiership credentials when they lost to Canberra or the Warriors. Certainly not when Melbourne and Souths beat them.
I didn't see Magic's posts. EWS is though. He hasn't swum all the way down though so he can still paddle his way out, but he'll be in there for a while trying to get all of his lost coins from the bottom of the pool if he's still betting against them.
I said I think Manly have one of the best squad on paper but there's still big questions over what they've done under Toovey. I'll never write them off because of their class players but I can't see them being a threat this year. Melbourne and Souffs are the only sides who look superior to us so far although I'm looking forward to Rd26 against Souths because we've come a long way since Round 1. I certainly don't read much into our round 1 game as much as others.
Yeah, pretty surprised they didn't move Lyon to five-eighth. Lyon right side half, Stewart second row, Symonds centre would just work so much better IMo than Stewart right side half, Symonds second row and Lyon centre. Having Hiku on the bench and not using him seemed weird too. What were they were waiting for exactly? They were losing, and their attacking structure was failing. If he wasn't going to come on then, when the fuck was he going to come on?
It was a strange game, Roosters did unbelievably well in the 1st quarter of the game to hold thier line after they conceded a number of consecutive penalties and repeat sets. During this time I expected Manly to do it comfortably. After this period however, it was all Roosters until the game was more or less over. Toovey should have been able to tell the game had slipped after their initial glut of possession, something had to change which is why I'm also pretty bemused by him not using his whole bench.
I want to touch on this. Why was Hiku in the side if he wasn't used? Was he simply banking on using him as a "win more" player? It happens in Test and Origin football a bit, where a "Secret weapon" is brought on. QLD used to do it with Walker and Bowen. And I am glad they haven't resorted to doing it with Barba. These guys aren't going to turn a game, or change a game from a loss to a win. They are "win more" players. If your team is in front and your forwards are crushing, then these blokes will run riot. However, if you are behind and your momentum is stifled, they will be useless cunts. Which is why guys like Wing and Gidley have done a good job in the past of either lifting the intensity of stagnant Blues teams, or providing the impetus for the killing blow. This is also why guys like Berrigan and Hunt did well in the role, because they could adapt to the tide of the game.
Manly at full strength are a genuine threat. They just haven't been able to get their bigs names on the park consistently for the last season and a half.
There were two top quality crowd penalties. That one and one for offside in the first half. Who was that ref? Was he new? Felt like he was trying to please everyone.
