Dress it up? And here I thought playing in Origin and GF's, big games generally, might count for something.

    :ninja:.....

Seriously though surely Tate has to get a look in after the origin series he had.

Yeah I reckon he'll play on the wing.

Tate's only chance is Newcastle missing the finals, which would minimise Uate's and Boyd's chances to impress. Poor cunt will probably miss out yet again despite proving himself as one of the best rep players in not one but two positions.

He is exactly the sort of player you want. 100m mile-an-hour, hungry and determined. And most importantly, always produces his best footy at representative level. As opposed to duds like Hodges; flat-track bullies who can't cut the mustard at the top levels.

Lewis, Bird, Gallen >>>> any other backrowers eligible. I really rate Myles and would have included him starting but with Scott, Hannant and Gallen all on field i reckon having Lewis and Bird provides extra ball skills to capitalise on the go forward provided. The fact myles can cover front row to an international standard tipped it also he's my first bench forward picked fwiw. I also don't rate Harrison nearly as highly as others ftr.

I honestly think Tate will actually get picked this year. Inglis and Hodges will be first choice centres unfortunately but the other wing options - Morris, Boyd, Uate, Hayne - all play for teams who probably (definitely in Hayne's case) won't make the eight, and we all know how much the Test selectors love a player who happens to play for a good side.

I really don't think Lewis should start the game.

There's a real dearth of fringe-running second rowers who actually have an impact at rep level at the moment though, particularly starting.

Yeah absolutely the fact that Creaghs been given I would estimate around ten origins (albeit Stuart retardedly believes he's viable in the middle third also) despite little effect highlights the lack of fringe hole running backrowers.

I actually think Ben Creagh is great at club level when's he used as a hole hitting option for the hot lines of their 2nd man plays etc. but he doesn't have the same framework to fit into at origin which fucks him up

  10. Julian BJ Taylor

Hayne needs to be in the team if fit.

I love Luke Lewis. One of my favourite players in the game but I honestly do not know how you can pick him over Harrison, Parker and even Thaiday. They all make more metres, more tackles, tackle at higher efficiency, and have proved more as starting rep players. Lewis's starting performances in rep footy have been pretty ordinary.

    Game 1, 2012
    9 runs for 66m, 24 tackles, 4 misses and 1 ineffective.

    Anzac Test, 2012
    9 runs for 63m, 29 tackles, 5 misses and 2 ineffective.

Mind you, Lewis is a very skilled backrower. Probably one of the best in the world in that department, but he's never really produced it at rep level (mainly because he isn't asked to but still). He doesn't really offer what Parker and Harrison do on QLD's left edge, despite having the actual skills.

No ffs. No he fucking doesn't! That's exactly what you said in 2009 after he was positively exposed as a winger in the Origin series earlier in the year. Apparently only three people watching the game actually noticed that he defended like Chris Sandow, amidst the, admittedly brilliant, attacking play.

He was again found out in 2010. Then again in Game 3 this year. Jesus tap dancing Christ, what on earth makes you think he has to be there?

If he's not playing fullback, fuck him.

    He's better than Tate #troll

    Yeah, at fullback...

    Cheeky cunt.

I'd love to just pick Hayne in front of Slater. I couldn't even begin to justify it beyond "I think he's better" though. :p

Haha yeah Tates better elsewhere, I honestly would like to see how Haynes would go in the centres however but his defence on the Wong is atrocious

I considered picking Hayne in Hodges's stead. Can't justify it based on that one Origin though when he hasn't played there since. I was impressed although I still maintain he'd probably be exposed there as well in due time.

I'd really love to see Hayne at centre with GI at fullback. Or vicer versa. Try defending those backline movements. FMD.

Would've been cool if Carney had actually played well in the Origin series; could've just benched Cronk then and solved the 17th man dilemma. Sigh.

I'm not sure how Ballin is a proven Origin player...

  20. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Well, he's proven he can handle it. I wouldn't call him proven in the definitive sense, but he did a good job in Smith's large shoes.
