Widdop can tackle. Doesn't really matter how good your opposing centre is though or how well you can tackle if you are out of position and/or make poor decisions in defence. He hasn't played there a lot which is my concern; not his ability.

Ah, tbh I thought you were talking about playing Tomkins at centre. Same thing applies though I guess.

Well the good news is that it looks like Melbourne will be putting Widdop in the centres next year, in first grade, so he'll learn the ins and outs of defensive positioning there, hopefully.

You tried to bring one up from 14 years ago...

Roby is gun. He could definitely cut it in the NRL IMO.

lmao i will quote what i said "IF ESL is such a joke competition how come we keep beating your best teams in the world club challenge bar leeds two years ago and st helens in 2003.

Internationally yes you are better no doubt there but as a competition ours is better.

Id love to see the 1996 wcc again with the two leagues now, i bet a super league club would win it. "

i never said anything apart from id like to replay the 1996/1997 WCC and i think we would do better,

the difference between super league and the NRL is that overall internationally you have a better team

but as the WCC has proved from about 1987 when wigan beat manly and then i think it was 1990 when they beat brisbane in brisbane against one hell of a brisbane team, the super league teams have dominated apart from 1997, and i will gladly accept the nrl is better if you can prove otherwise

  8. cloughie09 TJ Clough

He definatly would, i think quite a few in super league would now, espeically our pack and halves, backs might have to stretch abit though but would cut it just wouldnt be top tier

Has pretty much everything to do with the fact that the game is scheduled like 5 months after ours is finished and your new season is just starting. Rusty much?

    Incorrect.

  10. cloughie09 TJ Clough

Rusty much, that is such a bullshit statement, they have been training for nearly 2 months, international players abit less, big deal we have a longer season and play a cup competition whats your point?

also prove why the nrl is sooooooooooooooooo much better than the super league

Just watch a game of each then come back to me.

Although NRL standard is declining, one look at the Crusaders side shows why the NRL is a better competition, it's a side made of NRL rejects and reserve graders, yet they flourish and make the finals.

  12. cloughie09 TJ Clough

its the same for Sydney roosters and st gerorge tbh and that was your grand final, last years wooden spooners and the all mighty chookers? must be a great league.

Brian Noble is the coach of the crusaders and he has a proven record, he has IT, he got bradford to 5 grand finals in a row winnings three, two challenge cup wins, and 3 wcc wins, with a set of rejects from other clubs, but made them into world beaters.

also on the point of watching a game, ive watched every round of both super league and nrl this season and to be honest neither comp stood out, both have different playing styles, we are trying to play expansive rugby but we just dont have the conditions to do it, but our packs run everyone off the park, as we dont worry about namby pamby offlaoding and just run hard and fast

I swear I see at least 5 dumb offloads in the defensive 20 every Super league game I watch.

Also Roosters V Dragons is a terrible argument for anything. They've got rep players across the park.

those 5 dumb offloads are normally in one tackle and normally the 4th or 5th

as for them having Rep players. so do Crusaders whats your point, they where rep players at the roosters while coming bottom? what does that say about rep footy

  15. Sultan Pepper HG Emm

It says that the NRL is far more even and exciting competition as anyone can win it.

as the super league proved this year by crusaders, warrington, huddersfield and the two hulll teams and wigan, as both countries broke the dominent teams (allbeit in defferent ways)

I'm losing brain cells reading this.

still no one can prove why the nrl is better though, give me solid proof why it is better, its all on the type of footy played and the players according to people on here but does that make it "better"?

You're like someone bashing themselves in the head going NO NO NO NO, THATS NOT TRUE, NO NO NO NO.

  20. Magic AJ Parker

Better in what way? Of course the players would make it a better quality....
