I’ve been making terrible preseason predictions (and some good ones) for a while now but I aint never picked two teams to be top 4, only to have them last and second last this far into the season.

Green and Thurston are delusional. They’re not putting on a front for the media. They genuinely think they’re not far away and that ‘last little bit’ will come. Given what they’ve produced this year they should be reacting like Ricky Stuart a few weeks ago. They’re miles away, in so many different areas. Canterbury are trash and they lead 19-0 at half time. That is diabolical.

To think this is just an issue with starts, playing from behind, execution, or playing in patches is insane. There are serious technical problems with their defence that take a month or two to fix. There are structural problems with their attack that do not get fixed overnight either. That’s before you start with the smaller things like ball control and last tackle options. Even general discipline has gone down the drain.

They’re way too nonchalant about just how fucking atrocious they’ve been given the talent in the side.

Its not an issue solely with starts. They started well against the Broncos and dropped the game. Defence just doesn't move up, doesn't have good technique. Way too predictable with the ball and make stupid errors when they create something.
I too am sick of the Green and Thurston excuses. Dunno who they're trying to convince. Cooper spilling the ball over the line when that's typically a try he scores and various other fuck ups in their game show there's real problems with them.

1/8 perfectly selected so far and 4/8 in the top 8 correct

Daresay there would've been better odds on that bottom 4 being the top 4 than the current leaders.

Really, really good to see the Tiges doing well.

Thing is with the Dragons is when they lead the comp early in previous seasons, I never once considered them to hang around; however this year they certainly look the team to beat.

I agree that St George are the team to beat; which is kinda sad because they’re really not that good.

Seems like forward packs have really dominated the games this year, most likely due to the new play the ball and offside stuff implemented. Dragons have a pretty monster forward pack tbf.

Dragons only weak point is hooker and centres. They have a fucking great side.

Centres aren't even that weak. I've always rated Lafai and even if limited, Aitken is still a good enough centre.

They are better than a lot of club, I more meant that was their weakest area.

I still don't think there's a lot of genuine creativity in the spine. Hunt and Widdop are really good players but as much as everyone wants to wank over their combination based on how well it works playing simple early-season football, I think between them there's a lot of direct play, energy, support play and good general play kicking, but not the natural vision or creative ball-playing you'd see in a lot of the other other combinations. Their second rowers and fullback don't really help in this area either (although de Belin and Graham do allow the halves to push wider at times).

They're definitely a much bigger chance this year than they were after previous good starts because they actually have a pretty damn good team on paper now, but I still think they'll fade slightly at the back end. Maybe the fade will be from 1st to 4th instead of 4th to 9th, but I still think it'll be there.

Yeah that’s my sense as well. For a 6/6 side they are extremely beatable.

If we'd signed Moylan instead of Reynolds and had him at FB I think we'd have been a legit shot at the title.

  16. Wilson SB Wilson

Nah, nothing wrong with your fullback.

  17. Julian BJ Taylor

    I didn’t post here so I can’t say I told you so

I did tell other cunts about where the Dragons and Eels would be believe it or not.

Quality couple of games tonight. Been a long time since I was more interested in a Dragons/Warriors match than a Storm/Broncos one. Should be good.

Who would've thought a Wests Vs Knights game would have such a big bearing on the make up of the top 8 early in the season.

    Whacky Comp.

Tbh, I thought we'd be better than most predicted just because our pack was super underrated and towards the end of last year we were playing like a fringe top 8 team.

I didn't expect Brooks and Marshall to arguably be the form halves pairing of the competition and Brooks to lead the dally Ms after 6 rounds.
