2017 Prelim Final: Roosters V Cowboys

Roosters easily beat the Cowboys if they have field position. You can give the Cowboys all the credit you want, and you should give Morgans kicking game plenty of credit because his kicks versus pearce's kicks make a huge difference, but even with that difference the only team who beat the Roosters is the Roosters themselves and they had their usual dumb plays that cost them. At least Roosters are a chance of not being dumb and maybe winning and if Tupou is playing they have a side that can score points at any moment. Mitchell's talent was once again not used at all without Tupou being there. Cowboys aren't a chance at all because Melbourne won't capitulate and with two grinding styles of play only Melbourne has the talent to set up points.

That's mostly true but the Cows' self belief is off the charts right now. Sometimes the better side gets beaten by the side with more momentum and confidence. They don't seem to give a fuck who they're playing or the fact that they're supposed to lose. I don't think they'll beat Melbourne but neither would Easts.

I don't think Cowboys will win either, I just think they could make Melbourne nervous a bit. Melbourne can struggle a bit against sides who don't give a fuck and bend over for Smith and co. Cowboys just gotta put the Origin loyalties aside.

Not impossible to beat the Storm. I doubt they will but tbh its just good to be there as the underdogs. Got a chance to truly prove everyone wrong. They played well last night more than I expected.

That game did an excellent job of summing up our season.

All in all a good season though after finishing 15th last year. Just dissapointing to end it on a game we really should have won.

Well done Cows. Not convinced they can beat Melbourne at their own game but it has bern a great run none the less. Can't rule out a team who's played so many games together and has as much experience as the Cows do, probably been the most overlooked factor in the Cows run.

I can't believe the Cows have won gifting the opposition tries like the two against Parra and the O'Neill one last night. Could well have beaten the Chooks 29-12 which is very comprehensive and should've beaten the Eels 24-6.

It took 70 minutes for Melbourne to put us away when we were down to a 1 man bench and since then we are a vastly better team. I have faith we can beat the Storm.

    Agree 1000%

Absolute bonehead coaching call to use Aubusson and Matterson as outside backs with Tupou on the bench and Manu in reserve grade.

Just on this game.... I really hope Green fucking grilled Lachlan Coote for that play on the 4th kicking it to Winterstein when the game was tight. They luckily got a frop out from memory but it was absolute madness.

I could understand it when we played the likes of Melbourne and Brisbane who are always a danger inside the 20 and our outside backs have been found out with some one on one tackling but in reality, the Cowboys have struggled to score tries in attacking sets inside the 20, that wasn't as much of a problem. It was all about combatting the inevitable 250 metres that JT was going to make and the likes of Hess coming on for him. Having an extra forward on the bench would've made a world of difference.

Hopefully Mitchell never does kickoffs again. You can tell he's the type of player who will fuck up like that throughout his whole career.
