Your opinion of the top 10 greatest bands of all time. There is a difference between that and your favourites but I'm not going to press the distinction. Just post whatever you like, favourite or otherwise.
Fair enough. Thought I'd ask because I find that just because I might prefer X over Y, doesn't mean they're a "greater" band in the grand scheme of things. Anywoo! Favourites. 1. The White Stripes - Elephant 2. Okkervil River - Black Sheep Boy 3. Tegan and Sara - So Jealous 4. Something for Kate - Echolalia 5. The Beatles - Abbey Road 6. Custard - We Have the Technology 7. Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath 8. Astronautalis - This is our Science 9. Amanda Palmer - Yes, Virginia 10. Magic Dirt - What Are These Rock Stars Doing Today
Yeah I can see why people like L.A. Woman more, it's more blues. Depends what you're taste of music is like really, dig Strange Days because it's their more psychedelic album of the lot.
MF Has a decent list, but I feel U2 could only warrant the favourites list when it's up against great acts such as CCR and The Doors (Who I had the pleasure of seeing a reunion-esque concert a couple of months ago). 1) The Gaslight Anthem Favourite Album - The 59 Sound Favourite Song - Even Cowgirls Get The Blues 2) The Hold Steady Favourite Album - Stay Positive Favourite Song - Lord, I'm Discouraged 3) Lucero Favourite Album - Rebels, Rogues, & Sworn Brothers. Favourite Song - Sing Me No Hymns 4) Drive-By Truckers Favourite Album - The Big To Do Favourite Song - Gravity's Gone 5) Ryan Adams & The Cardinals Favourite Album - Gold Favourite Song - Carolina Rain 6) The Black Keys Favourite Album - The Big Come Up Favourite Song - Little Black Submarines 7) The Rolling Stones (1964-1973) Favourite Album - Sticky Fingers Favourite Song - Sway/Salt of the Earth 8) Deadstring Brothers Favourite Album - Sao Paulo Favourite Song - Can't Make It Through The Night 9) Stereophonics Favourite Album - You Gotta Go There To Come Back Favourite Song - Dakota 10) Red Hot Chili Peppers (1989-2006) Favourite Album - Stadium Arcadium Favourite Song - Strip My Mind
Nah. I actually don't really like Led Zeppelin or U2 that much. I just happen to have a great deal of respect for their talent and catalogues of work.
The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness The Hives - Tyrannosaurus Hives Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf The Living End - The Living End Something For Kate - Echolalia Death Cab For Cutie - Plans Arcade Fire - The Suburbs Foo Fighters - The Colour And The Shape Gyroscope - Are You Involved? Howling Bells - Radio Wars

U2 had multiple hit singles on just about every album they released afaik and they are still going strong, so I don't think that argument really applies for them. I think their position on MF's list is perfectly justified.
1. Okkervil River - Down The River of Golden Dreams/Black Sheep Boy 2. Nirvana - In Utero 3. The Beatles - Abbey Road 4. Neutral Milk Hotel - In an Aeroplane Over the Sea 5. Shearwater - Palo Santo; extended edition 6. The Doors - Morrison Hotel 7. The White Stripes - De Stijl 8. Radiohead - Kid A 9. The Mountain Goats - The Sunset Tree 10. The Decemberists - Picaresque 10. Death Cab For Cutie - Transatlanticism # listed 11 because I still sort of see Mountain Goats as John Darnielle + bass player. _________________________________________ I only considered bands. If I was including artists; then Bob Dylan, Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, Damien Rice and maybe another 1 or 2 would be on the list.
