I've just seen a replay of it. Not a red, but why did he even need to go to ground? He'd already got the ball before he started "sliding", just seemed pointless to begin sliding and catch the guy.
People really need to stop saying that touching the ball in a tackle automatically means it can't be a bad/reckless tackle
Silly from Suarez and will probably get a 2 match ban for it. I'm not even going to try and defend his actions, he's in the wrong, as simple as that. Rooney got a two match ban for swearing down a camera last season and it's time for the FA to be consistent on this.
Suarez, fucking idiot. Veri saying getting the ball means nothing is laughable. Possibly the most stupid thing I've heard in this thread.
It quite clearly does matter. Winning the ball is utterly irrelevant if the tackle is wild and likely to cause another player serious injury.
So if Spearing did that exact same tackle at head height, and decapitated Dembele, it'd be similarly bad as it was in the Fulham game?
scottish football, but still very interesting.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16023596.stm
Garry O'Connor of Hibs got away with a worse bit of diving earlier in the season. If Aluko gets hammered it just adds to the theory that the Old Firm, and particularly Rangers, get unfairly targetted by this system. Aluko also got hacked to the ground last week at Kilmarnock, and no penalty got given. Where's the equivelant 2 match ban for that?
You're such a shunt. You're only contribution, simply to try and make me look like an idiot, when clearly what I was saying was that whether you get the ball or not, a 2 footed tackle is against the rules, when Eds was saying that it was fair he did use 2 feet, because it's what he "needed" to do to win the ball. Yeah this tbh. I hadn't actually seen the tackle, so couldn't really comment on the actual specific incident, but it shouldn't have been a red. Can't see it being over turned though. Also Suarez, what an idiot. Just causes problems for his team tbh.
