Vipers prepare for pursuit on finals during bye week

Round Seven of the CricSim competition marks the bye week for the Vipers and it seems like the best time to reflect on the Vipers season so far. The Vipers are currently sitting comfortably on top of the Bannerman Shield standings and they will no doubt be looking to extend their lead coming into Round 8 and beyond. For this week’s special edition release, we asked the players what they thought of the season thus far.

Our bowling has been pretty ‘jizzworthy’. Our batting has been very underwhelming and slightly disappointing. We've been lucky that our bowling line-up has saved us a few times. When both of these fire, we'll be miles ahead of every other team. I’d be disappointed if we lost a match from here on out. I’m looking forward to the challenge of the Allstars in a couple of rounds time.

The fact that I have been in such poor wicket taking form yet we can still have a quotient of 22 really shows what gun signings GJ Weaver and WC Welker are.

We’ve been good this season without really hitting our straps as of yet. We had a weight of expectation on our shoulders at the start of the season so it’s hard to play to our best. If we can get firing, I’d say we’ll have a good shot at taking out the shield. I suppose the thing that is important for us is that we need to make sure we don’t get complacent as it is just really easy to do so in a competition like this.

With this, I hope to be able to win this season and continue our success beyond next season and onto Season 12 where I hope I can be a part of another successful campaign.

We've started the season really well. Weaver has been in really good form and is an integral part of why we have started so strongly. Bowling leader Eggman has been really economical and I feel that his tight bowling is what allows the rest of us be so successful. Our only blemish so far has been dropping first innings points in one of the games.

While I’ve been struggling in ALC so far this season, I’m training hard and hoping to push for a BS spot. My best days are not behind me and I still has a lot to offer to the team and club as a whole.

The club as a whole is performing as expected when you have the star players that we currently boast amongst our roster. It does however make it hard to stand out and my potential may be getting lost.

Some people don't think I deserve my current accolades (Country 2nd XI). I believe I deserve it and more. I’ve shown consistency in my appearances and have been written off much too early. Only a couple BS games ago I was opening in the BS Final.

Vipers Media didn’t want to break it to Boland that cricket is a team sport and let him continue, we’d like to stress that anything said by Boland does not represent the views or opinions of the Vipers Cricket Club.

At the minute we're cruising, our batting hasn't fired properly and our most dangerous bowler isn't terrorising teams like he has for the past few seasons, but as the season goes on and the stakes are raised I think we'll jump into 5th gear and blow the competition out of the water.

Vipers have been pretty dominant; and it's been really enjoyable getting involved in a team that's so ruthless in dismantling its opponents. While the Cobras have had a few disappointing matches, we've been pretty impressive and I've really enjoyed getting a taste of what it's like to play against some guys on the fringes of BS selection. The Vipers dominance shows me just how far I have to go to play at the highest level, but makes me determined to reach that level.

The players have had their say and it is safe to say there is a degree of excitement amongst the team. While complacency could become an issue, the Vipers are definitely looking like they are ready to make a jump on the competition and attempt to win the Bannerman Shield.

Well worded Boland, an interesting insight into the struggles of a highly competitive ALC batsmen. Boland should be proud, A++.
