    Injured isn't he?

Quite like the look of Peter Betham as well. That NPC grounding does a player the world of good. ;)

did his acl early on in the super rugby season

Ah. Probably out for another 6 months or so then?

Bugger. Definitely your best player of recent vintage, but at least Hooper's a solid replacement.

EDIT: Kerr-Barlow is extremely average. Definitely need a better backup than him.

a seriously frustrating team. there's a lot to work with but the polish just isn't there

like that play. should try it more.

edit: that last passage of play deserved a try one way or another

This Kiridrani is the best Aussie 13 I can remember. he doesn't have much competition as usually Aussie puts out good 12s thats where I remember Horan playing. Mortlock wasn't great shakes on offence.

Well done Aussie - great backline they put out there. Thank goodness Deans is gone.

Good reffing overall. I don't care he made one or two mistakes. he had a faultless first half and he is human. Joubert should ref every game as far as I am concerned. That French idiot who fouled up the ABs springbok game at eden park basically decided the rugby championship with one call. Ruined a whole game.

Owens was better - especially given the cauldron atmosphere at Ellis Park. But Joubert's a decent ref and certainly much better than the average.

Only two pieces of unpolished play I recall. horwill dropping an easy pass. And genia running into his own man. I think you can be proud of your team tonight.

Except for tool in the 23 jersey for aussie at the end Foley? What a muppet everything he touched turned to custard.

Really this could be a turning point in Aussie rugby. Cooper has never played like that against us before. He looked threatening every time he touched it. Tomua was good at 12, your 13 who I have raved about was good. Betham was average (sorry Heef) Folau at Fullback was a beast. And AAC will get better at wing if he gets some coaching.

    Other plusses
    - I thought your 6 outplayed ours, and your 7 was also better than Cane despite Cane playing his best game in a black jumper.

    Small minuses
    - I have no idea who your 8 was and didn't see him all night.
    - The replacement front row for Aussie also didn't do the business at scrum time.
    - And the Aussies seemed to do better with Horwill off the field.

    Definitely agree with these points.

With the 6 & 7, Messam was better than Mowen in many ways, but Mowen was better at the set piece in many ways. Messam was definitely better with ball in hand and at the ruck. Yes, Hooper was better than Cane - but the contest was much closer than it should have been. Hooper was below his best in my opinion.

don't think Hooper has ever been at his best against us. Brumby refers to a man of the match performance against England - but I have never seen him put in a Pocock like effort against us. At Super Rugby level he is the best 7 in the comp however as he has more time to dominate. I think Pocock knows the rules better too or at least knows how to do his job in a more appealing fashion in front of the ref that avoids censure.

btw just watching the replay of the haka - the camera focuses in on Nonu and Savea rather than the pasty white kids like Cruden and company haha.

Stephen Moore was one of their best. Made lots of meterage

    This starts again soon

Here is my post from CW

  14. Jabba HJ Bots

    1. James Slipper (vc – Queensland Reds)
    2. Nathan Charles (Western Force)
    3. Sekope Kepu (NSW Waratahs)
    4. Sam Carter (ACT Brumbies)
    5. Rob Simmons (Queensland Reds)
    6. Scott Fardy (ACT Brumbies)
    7. Michael Hooper (c – NSW Waratahs)
    8. Wycliff Palu (NSW Waratahs)
    9. Nic White (ACT Brumbies)
    10. Kurtley Beale (NSW Waratahs)
    11. Rob Horne (NSW Waratahs)
    12. Matt Toomua (ACT Brumbies)
    13. Adam Ashley-Cooper (vc – NSW Waratahs)
    14. Pat McCabe (ACT Brumbies)
    15. Israel Folau (NSW Waratahs)

    Reserves*
    James Hanson (Queensland Reds)
    Pek Cowan (Western Force)
    Ben Alexander (ACT Brumbies)
    Will Skelton (NSW Waratahs)
    Ben McCalman (Western Force)
    Scott Higginbotham (Melbourne Rebels)
    Nick Phipps (NSW Waratahs)
    Bernard Foley (NSW Waratahs)
    Tevita Kuridrani (ACT Brumbies)

    Aussie team,

Can see us absolutely mutilating their tight 5. The backline is poorly selected, need a big tackling 12 to cope with all the inside channel traffic which comes from Savea, Nonu and Read.

    Toomua over Foley, really?

Seem like ordinary wingers to me as well.

  16. Jabba HJ Bots

Phipps should be starting aswell, was probably the second most important 'tah back behind Folau

  17. Hurricane JD Hurricane

ABs by 15 as Australia seem to be experimenting with their line up rather than placing an emphasis on winning.

  18. Sultan Pepper HG Emm

    Hornes a spastic

All Blacks: Ben Smith, Cory Jane, Conrad Smith, Ma'a Nonu, Julian Savea, Aaron Cruden, Aaron Smith; Kieran Read, Richie McCaw (captain), Jerome Kaino, Sam Whitelock, Brodie Retallick, Owen Franks, Dane Coles, Wyatt Crockett. Reserves: Keven Mealamu, Ben Franks, Joe Moody, Steven Luatua, Sam Cane, TJ Perenara, Beauden Barrett, Malakai Fekitoa.

All I would really have changed is Cruden to the bench and BB start, with Messam for Cane aswell. It was crucial Jane was on the wing because his ball skills are better then Ben Smiths working against the touchline. We all know how strong he is and against an undersized Aussie backline it gives us a real advantage.
