Reminded me of the time they did it against the Roosters I think last season with around the same time left. Ended up with a similar result as well.

Yeah both sides were playing conservative footy, but you never go for a field goal that early.

I didn't mind the field goal as long as they didn't try to defend that lead; it definitely could've come in handy later. They did try to defend it though.

    Yeah exactly agree with Cribb.

As soon as you play to not lose rather than to win, you're fucked.

poor performance tonight, hopefully they can get back on track with a win over parramatta next sunday arvo.

The problem though is that you pot a FG with 15 to go and the opposition immediately sees that as protectionism. Regardless of whether you play aggressively thereafter the other side interprets it as perceived weakness or at the very least conservative. Souths scored one try through a front rower. They needed to send a message to Cronulla that they're playing to win. A FG sends the exact opposite message.

    Dam bunnies, ruined me tipping.

Had they lost there could've been a bit of pressure to remain in the 8 too, especially given their form.

Especially given we've got Melbourne and the Cowboys as our next 2 games as well. Happy with the win. 4/4 from tipping so far. This has put me in 3rd spot for my footy tipping comp.

Yeah I didn't realise how big this game actually was for the sharkies, probably would've tipped them had I have realised their run home.

The early fg comes back to bite Souffs again.
