Seasonal Rugby Cup Round 5: Spartans vs Giants

Izett makes a nice throw to HT Davis, who claims it excellently. He taps it back to Luffman who tries to make the clearance. But he has hurried it and it is a lineout to the Giants just inside the Spartans 22. Flack makes the throw and Gemmell claims it at the back. He makes a short run before being taken down by the Spartan defense. Cribb passes to Parker who goes on a short pick and go. Cribb passes to Ames who sidesteps Scoble. TRY GIANTS! AMES JUST WENT AROUND SCOBLE AND NOW HAS AN EASYISH CONVERSION. He makes the conversion and the score is now 7-7! The Spartans know they are still in this and Luffman takes a reverse kick. It goes to K Fung on the wing and he comes back inside, so he has some support. C Laing makes a brilliant turnover for the Spartans and shovels it back to Luffman. He chips it over the top and Farhat is bursting on at pace. The ball rolls out and into touch. But Son is there to take a quick lineout and does. He passes back to Ames who has a better angle for the kick and leathers it downfield. It is a massive kick but it hasn’t gone out. BOY Blunder takes it up the rear of the Giants defense. He charges through the middle but it takes two tacklers to get him down and MP Chung has pretty much won that ruck on his own. Support arrives and Luffman gives a pick and go to Eggman. But it is a knock on, and the referee has called half time. The score is now 7-7. What a match.

AJ Son and K Fung have decided to swap positions for the second half. E Ames makes a reverse kick as the players have just come out. P Orr claims it brilliantly. THIS IS A BRILLIANT RUN FROM ORR. HE JUST STEPPED ROUND GOLDING! HE ONLY HAS FUNGTO BEAT! TRYYYYYYY FOR ORR. HE MANAGED TO GET AROUND FUNG AND RUN IT INTO THE CORNER! Luffman cannot quite get the conversion but the score is now 12-7 to the Spartans, this is getting very close. The Giants get back as quickly as possible and E Ames has to take his second kick in about 5 minutes. He puts a fairly long one to Scoble now and he runs forward with it. He gets taken down by Funkotron who tackles well. Luffman makes a box kick and it rolls into touch on the Spartan 10 metre line. Alessi takes a quick one and makes quite a few extra yards. Cribb makes a brilliant dash down the blind and has no-one to beat. TRY UNDER THE POSTS FOR CRIBB! HE WENT ROUND THE LONG WAY, BUT HE MADE IT TO UNDER THE POSTS. Ames converts the try and gives the Giants a 14-12 lead. What a match this is turning out to be. The Giants take there time as they walk back and AJ O’Driscoll is coming on for TA Miokovic now. Luffman takes the kick and Burridge takes it well at the back. He goes straight over the top of Scoble and forms a very good breakdown. Ames receives the ball from Cribb and makes a hasty kick into Spartan territory.
