Season 2 Grand Final: Vikings vs. Spartans

69:15: Dave Eggman is limping off. Looks like his game is over. He doesn't look in a good state.

On comes Jake Wilkinson.

 

73:00: Ben Herd running into the Spartans 22m here. He evades the tackle from Blunder. He dodges inside and dodges a swipe from Paddy Orr.

He passes away to Steve Cambridge who immediately passes onto Andrew James. James fends off the attempted tackle from Ames.

Only 5m from the line now as James passes off to Jacobs.

 

Jacobs is tackled by a last ditch effort from Loughman. Anyone who can get to the ruck goes in. That includes the unlikely figure of Lucas Schaw who contributes nothing as he gets barged out of the way by Callum Laing and Michael Chung. He makes it look like a painful way of crowd surfing.

Desperation stakes. The ball comes out and is pumped upfield by Kyle Tait. A lucky bounce finds touch. The Vikings sprint back up field for the line out.

 

Good line out taken by Dempsey. Dempsey passes away to Delonge who gives the ball to James. James on the run, back into the Spartan 22. James to Hunt.

10m from the line now, Hunt passes to Humble.

 

Humble has the ball in one hand, and darts for the line. Blunder dives across and ankle taps him as he crosses the line. The ball looks to have come loose there. The ref rightly calls for the video replay... Tick, tock...

 

Yep, knock on. No try. 5 metre scrum to the Spartans...

 

... And that was the last play of interest.

To those who are interested, the Spartans were on attack for the last play of the match, before Rego conceded a penalty for not releasing the ball. The last act of the match as the line out from the kick to touch was won by the Spartans, who booted the ball out.
