45:15: Knock on by Alan Izett there. Scrum to the Vikings, and that's probably their best effort of the night. They've pushed the Spartans back about 7 or 8 metres there. Great heave. Finally, the Spartans push back, so Perry takes the ball out of the scrum. 15m into Spartans territory here. Perry goes for the box kick off the back of the scrum, hoping to see Jacobs run through the line onto the ball.
... but that's not deep enough and Paddy Orr has easily got this covered. He's already on the run, and neither team has their defensive line formed. Orr could take this all the way. Yes! He's got the pace, no one's gonna catch him! Try to the Spartans. He dots down under the post. Ames takes the conversion easily. Spartans 26 - 10 Vikings
Fucking hell. Never really expected a win with half our players being lazy fuckers/inactive, but still....
49:15: Alan Izett is sent to the bin. The ref's had enough of him infringing, and he's called that a cynical example of off side. Off trots Izett for a spell in the bin. Could this be the boost the Vikings need? Will Robinson takes this opportunity to come on for Duck Lewis.
50-60m: Vikings dominate for the first time in the match. They spend the whole 10 minutes in the Spartans half, getting within 5m of the line on a couple of occasions and are camped out inside the Spartan 22 for about 3 minutes at one stage, linking together over a dozen phases. Markarse Deane makes the key try saving tackle at 55 minutes. Blunder clears the lines, only to have the fill-in hooker throw poorly and concede possession again. It simply isn't enough for the Vikings though as the clock ticks down.
65:15: Deep inside Spartan territory, Denton drives out of the 22m and passes away to Ames to drive the ball downfield. Will Robinson for the Vikings pounces upon Ames and tackles him. Great tackle! In comes Dempsey and Torres and the turnover is taken in a dangerous position. Perry away to Jacobs who breaks the defensive line apart. Marcuss Deane is there to cover up the line though - merely inches away, Jacobs there, great last ditch tackle....
...The ball sits at the back of the ruck. Perry looms over the top of it, assessing his options. The Spartan forwards either side of the ruck wait impatiently and the ref holds them back from the offside line. No, his arm's out. If the Vikings don't score, they have a penalty in the offing. Perry finally picks up the ball, dummies and dives at the base of the post.
Try to the Vikings! Nicely planted at the base of the post there by Perry. Hunt won't miss the conversion from here either. Taps is over Spartans 26 - 17 Vikings. A converted try and penalty would suffice for the Vikings. Not much time left though.
