Wes Welker pinged for poor binding at the Scrum. Penalty to the Hurricanes. Ames finds touch 20m upfield, only 15m from the Gamblers line.

Smith chucks the ball in and it's taken by Clough unchallenged.

Clough sets up a maul - good rumble here, but the Gamblers forwards stop the movement after 5m. Good strength from the Gamblers front rowers there.

The Hurricanes look to spread the ball. Weaver tries to run at the line, but is spot tackled by Simon Humble. Parker piles in and secures the ball for the Canes.

League Lover attempts the pick and go. He's tackled by Aaron O'Neill - oh dear, that's a nasty looking clash of heads but the referee waves play on.

The ball comes out on the Hurricanes side, and is passed to Ames by Pilgrim. Ames attempts the grubber. Nice idea, but he's hit it too hard and that'll be a 22m drop out.

The trainers are running on to treat the two injured players. O'Neill has been knocked out in that clash of heads, and Lover isn't looking to great either.

Dempsey is having to come on for O'Neill. Lover seems okay for now, but we'll have to see how he lasts.

 

Worst possible start for the Gamblers there. The odds on the board were looking pretty close, but that's a big loss there in O'Neill. Seriously weakens their strongest area and so early in the game too.
